The role is highly varied as the manager will be responsible for the effective management of projects from initial contact with inventors to successful commercialization of technologies. Incumbent will effectively manage a portfolio of projects through invention disclosures, patent submissions, licensing, and drafting commercialization agreements. Manager will work with a variety of stakeholders including research faculty, funders, partner institutions, potential licensees and the USPTO. Responsible for scouting technology opportunities that enable innovation and bring the technology to market. This includes visiting and speaking with staff on all three campuses and associated facilities to learn more about their innovations. Serves as the first point of contact for incoming interested parties in Nemours technologies. Responds to any initial questions; provides non-confidential information related to the technology and requested non-disclosure agreements when necessary; and arranges follow-up meetings with the assigned attorney for potential negotiation. Key Responsibilities: Develop and manage strong relationships with faculty and associate inventors, as well as, prospective inventors throughout the enterprise. Responsible for the identification, evaluation, development, protection and utilization of intellectual property rights, trademarks, copyrights and “Know How”. Maintain a system to manage the portfolio of technologies Provide general advice and counsel on technology commercialization including disclosing inventions, screening and evaluation, intellectual property, licensing and so forth. Evaluate and screen disclosures; independently and collaboratively license technologies involving (a) identifying and qualifying licensees, including startup companies, (b) developing marketing strategies and plans, (c) drafting business terms for license agreements, (d) negotiating and executing routine and complex license agreements, material transfer agreements, and other standard agreements; manage executed agreements and (e) manage and interact with the Intellectual Property Committee. Develop and deliver annual Action Plan to maintain effective relationships with inventors to grow the disclosure pipeline and with licensees in order to market technologies and develop the license pipeline.
