What We Are Looking For
Baylor University is seeking an
Academic Advisor who will support the mission of the university. The Academic Advisor consults directly with students on developing academic
plans, providing support through challenges in college, advising on course selection, overseeing assigned responsibilities related to
student retention, and providing guidance on academic progress toward degree completion.
A Bachelors degree, less than one year
years of relevant work experience, and an active Christian faith are required. A Master’s degree and two years of relevant work experience
preferred.
A combination of education and experience will not be considered in lieu of those required.
*All applicants must be
currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
What You Will Do
- Assigned a caseload
of 250-300 students - Responsible for advising current pre-nursing students on the Waco campus, talking to prospective students and
parents, maintaining academic records, and compiling admission data for students for admission consideration to the upper level. - Orientation, advise and counsel students on required coursework, school of nursing admission processes, and the profession of nursing.
- Works closely with Pre-Nursing Coordinator and Student Services to maintain communication and consistency between lower and upper
levels of the nursing program. - Coordinate parallel and interactive processes with admissions, recruitment, and advisement between
lower and upper levels of nursing program. - Update documents related to recruitment, admission, and advisement.
- Maintain
integrity and quality of information databases for advising and admission processes. Ensure LHSON academic policies and standards are
implemented in the admissions process. - Facilitate enrichment activities, such as guest speakers and information sessions, for
pre-nursing students in Waco. - Serve on LHSON and University committees as assigned.
- Assist with Freshman orientation and
preliminary advisement. - Participate in the activities of the LHSON in Waco and Dallas campuses.
- Any additional projects
or duties as assigned by the department
