Job Duties:
Duties and responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:
Program Coordination 60%
- Coordinate the PASC mentoring program and activities.
- Assist with the hiring, training, and supervision of student staff who serve as mentors and success coaches.
- Coordinate and train student mentors in adherence with CRLA training guidelines.
Campus Outreach and Recruitment (10%)
- Represent the PASC to the public, key stakeholders, and campus organizations.
- Conduct outreach activities and presentations on behalf of the PASC.
Programming and Academic Support Services (30%)
- Plan academic skill building programs and present to academic classes, freshman seminar, and student groups.
- Serve as a resource for campus support services available to students, making necessary referrals to project staff and other campus support services as needed.
- Conduct student study skills coaching sessions and promote student academic success.
- Work in collaboration with faculty, staff, and campus partners to meet student academic support needs.
This position is contingent upon available funding.

Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience or a preferred master’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution.

The Learning Specialist is assigned to the Pirate Academic Success Center (PASC), the centralized learning center for the East Carolina University campus. The mission of the Pirate Academic Success Center is to provide academic success services for ECU students and to assist students in achieving their academic goals. The PASC serves within Academic Affairs at the university.
