The College of Undergraduate Studies
The College of Undergraduate Studies offers four majors, four minors, and four certificate programs, which promote critical thinking, collaboration, and career readiness. Our degree programs span UCF colleges and programs. Our professional advisors help guide students through the curriculum while highlighting valuable co-curricular opportunities so that students earn a degree that is of the greatest possible value to them in the most reasonable amount of time.
The Opportunity:
The College of Undergraduate Studies-IDS at the University of Central Florida is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Academic Advisor II. The Academic Advisor II will provide academic, major, and college-specific advising for Integrative General Studies (IGS), Environmental Studies (ES), and Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS) students in areas including but not limited to recruitment, major declaration, orientation, enrollment, retention, and graduation. Academic Advising Professionals advise students to assist them in making appropriate educational decisions specific to their education plan as well as counsel students on academic policies and issues.
Responsibilities:

Advise majors, minors, and certificates in Interdisciplinary Studies, Environmental Studies, Integrative General Studies, Leadership Studies, Diversity Studies Leadership, Genomics and Bioinformatics, Diversity Leadership, and GIS.

Coordinate and collaborate with faculty, advising team, and other UCF departments, offices, and programs on improving recruiting, retention, and completion of CUGS-IDS programs.

Manage communication with students, parents, other University units, and faculty regarding all relevant policies and procedures.

Assist in developing and implementing strategies to increase retention and graduation.

Provide outreach to CUGS-IDS FTIC and Transfer cohorts to ensure they are on track for their major, including assisting with requests for substitutions, waivers, and exceptions.

Provide initiative in the planning, development, and implementation of recruiting events on and off campus (orientation, open house, etc.) including producing target group-specific presentations for diverse orientation events.

Use advising technologies to measure student progress, document advising interactions, and communicate with students.

Maintain student records and documents student interaction in myKnight STAR and other systems as appropriate following FERPA policies and protecting confidentiality.

Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or a Master’s degree

Master’s degree
