The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking an Academic Advisor II to provide guidance and advice to students on course selection, prerequisites, career planning and continuing higher education. To provide advising services regarding student academics or aspects of student life. To maintain accurate client information and adhere to confidentiality standards. To assist with student recruitment/retention and serve on special committees as needed. To provide new student orientation and outreach services to junior colleges for undergraduate program admissions. To assist departments with curriculum development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides guidance and advice to students for course selection, course prerequisites, career planning, continuing higher education. Provides advising services including curriculum development, academics and aspects of student life. Assists with departmental publications.
- Makes referrals to other agencies or offices as required and collects data related to assessment of students.
- Assists with student recruitment/retention and serves on special committees as needed.
- Maintains accurate student information and adheres to strict confidentiality standards.
- Prepares special and recurring reports regarding status of students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
(Annual Salary: $39,215 – $43,000)
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Counseling, Education or a related field and three (3) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
