Summary of Position

Under the administrative supervision of
designated supervisor, advise and counsel students in relation to academic programs; Design and administer appropriate programs, services,
and activities that assist students with academic planning.

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience in academic counseling or related experience required;
Master’s in Education, Counseling or related student service area preferred; strong interpersonal skills and communication techniques;
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment; Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects; Experience in a university advising
office.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Provide academic advising and support to assigned
    CHHS first-year students using the ACE first-year experience model as well as provide academic advising and support to second-year students
    who are undeclared.
  • Support students as they explore educational and career options.
  • Explain academic policies, procedures,
    and curriculum to students to meet their educational goals.
  • Guide student course selection and scheduling.
  • Assess student
    needs and make referrals to university supports and resources.
  • Maintain appropriate student records and document student
    interactions.
  • Ensure confidentiality of student records.
  • Identify and monitor student academic progress.

Duty/Responsibility

  • Support student success using CHHS’s Academic Improvement Model (AIM).
  • Contact
    students with early alerts indicating academic challenges.
  • Help students identify and resolve obstacles to academic
    success.
  • Serve as academic coach for students who have fallen below minimum academic expectations.
  • Participate in CHHS
    workshops that bring university supports and resources to our most challenged students.

Duty/Responsibility

Serve as lead instructor for ACE Freshman Seminars (HHS 401). Supervise ACE Mentors
assigned to seminars. Work closely with faculty mentors to assure smooth transition to sophomore year in
major.

Help plan and participate in CHHS admissions, recruitment, and orientation
events.
