Job Details:
The School of Medicine is
searching for an Academic Success Counselor for the Savannah campus.

Responsibilities:

Under general
direction of the Senior Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, this individual supports academic intervention programs for medical students and
provides individualized outreach to students who are identified at risk; connects students to relevant campus resources; provides or
arranges academic tutoring and support for students on an ongoing basis; monitors and tracks progress of students; maintains communication
with faculty and staff in support of students. This individual will also provide academic records data management with Academic Affairs and
provide assistance to Academic Affairs and the Dean’s office, as well as serving as a backup resource for Academic Affairs for testing and
assessment.

Qualifications:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in
higher education, adult education or a related field is required, along with experience working with students in need of academic support,
preferably in higher education. The successful candidate must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
Should be proficient in the use of a computer, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint. The candidate will understand learning/educational
theory and be able to use that knowledge to identify barriers to student learning and success. The ability to be discrete and maintain
confidentiality is essential. The candidate must possess outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Prior experience as an
academic support/learning specialist is desirable.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Literate or able to
    quickly obtain literacy in University applications such as Canvas and other student and academic systems.

  • Excellent
    Interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.

  • Excellent writing and oral communication
    skills.

  • Ability to manage correspondence and data and produce applicable reports.

  • Some prior experience
    working with students in need of academic support, preferably in higher education.
