Supervises and directs staff and functions in the unit while maintaining clinical nursing practice skills and unit specific expertise. Specific duties include managing human resources functions, directing patient care activities, monitoring unit budgets and participating on departmental and medical center wide performance improvement projects. Serves as a role model and clinical resource to colleagues, staff, patients and others. Required Qualifications: Minimum 3 years experience as a nurse Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise and motivate staff through prior lead or supervisory experience Understanding of Joint Commission and other applicable regulatory requirements Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Strong customer service orientation as well as written and oral communication skills Complete understanding of acuity levels for the patient population All external candidates must have a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a fast paced, constantly changing environment Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing Licenses and Certifications: Basic Life Support(Required) Registered Nurse(Required) Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms ACLS certified or eligibility for certification Conditions of Employment: The University of California, Irvine (UCI) seeks to provide a safe and healthy environment for the entire UCI community.
