Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication is seeking a new member of our leadership team. This position will manage and
administer the resolution of student concerns, as well as providing oversight of Student Services and Broadcast Operations. As a leadership
team member, the Assistant Dean will collaborate with deans, faculty and staff in various tasks and objectives, including recruitment
efforts and committees within the college. An ideal candidate will ensure the area of student affairs at Gaylord College demonstrates a
commitment to students in achieving their diverse educational goals while creating an inclusive environment.

Essential
Duties:

1. Oversight of Student Services

  • Oversight of and collaboration with the Academic Advising unit,
    including supervision of staff.
  • Work with academic units and colleges regarding non-academic program issues and the resolution of
    student concerns.
  • Oversight of career services activities for students.
  • Counseling and advising students in career-related
    events.

2. Oversight of and collaboration with the broadcast operations area

  • Supervision of staff.
  • Oversight of technology and programming in broadcast operations

3. Leadership Team Member

  • Help establish
    annual college goals and objectives.
  • Represent the dean and the college within the university and at external functions, meetings,
    and events.

4. Recruitment

  • Recruitment team member with activities including recruiting, admission, retention,
    graduation, and fellowship programs.

5. Oversight of Committees

Job Requirements

*

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in
communication, journalism, or related field, AND

  • 72 months of related experience

Requirements:

  • Ability to engage in repetitive motion. Standard office environment.

Departmental
Preferences:

  • Knowledge of broadcast operations and equipment.
  • Experience lecturing or teaching in a media
    related field.
  • 5-10 years in a supervisory position and/or academic environment related to the college’s areas of study.
  • A
    proven network of media contacts in academia and/or industry.

Supervision: Will supervise 3 full-time staff.
