Job Description

The Pine Manor Institute for Student Success at Boston College was created out of the integration between Boston College and Pine Manor College in May of 2020. The Pine Manor Institute for Student Success at Boston College is a year-round, free post-secondary readiness program designed to serve underrepresented and underserved first-generation students through a rich and diverse pre-college and college curriculum with the vision of fostering and inspiring academic growth, social development and personal enrichment. The Pine Manor Institute (PMI) has four pillars one of which is Mentoring and Tutoring:

The Assistant Director, Mentoring and Academic Achievement supports the mission of the Pine Manor Institute for Student Success at Boston College by providing mentoring, academic coaching, encouragement and support to first-generation and underrepresented students.  This position reports to the Director, Mentoring and Academic Achievement and is responsible for the day-to-day operation and functioning of the mentoring initiatives of the Pine Manor Institute for Student Success at Boston College.  This position will also manage all aspects of the Options Through Education (OTE) Program, including the seven-week summer residence program and the academic year advising, mentoring and support of the OTE cohort.

 In addition, the Assistant Director will work as part of a team to support the academic, social, and personal growth of both Messina College and Boston College students.  This position is also responsible for designing workshops, seminars, and symposia to support the academic achievement, success, and retention of male undergraduates.  The Assistant Director will serve as an academic coach, mentor, and role model for 50 first-year undergraduate students and will manage and administer all aspects of the Graduate Mentor Program.

 Full-Time Equivalent Hiring Range: $61,650 to $77,050; salary commensurate with relevant experience.

Requirements
*          – Experience mentoring first generation, underserved and underrepresented students

*        –  Experience designing and presenting workshops, orientations, training and retreats

*         – Bachelor’s degree

*         – 3-5 years of administrative experience in higher education

*         – Strong interpersonal skills

*         – Ability to develop strategic, intentional partnerships

*         – Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

*         – Ability to create and maintain systems and efficient processes

*         – Demonstrated ability to work in a fast paced, team based, deadline-oriented environment

*         – Ability to manage competing priorities concurrently.
