Job
Summary:
The Rollins College Office of Academic Advising is seeking an Assistant Director of Academic Advising and
Student Support to join their team! This position supports the Academic Advising program by assisting in the case management of students
needing academic support and guidance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist with implementing the College’s
academic advising programs through individual and group advising. - Provide individual academic advising support to students
identified at risk for retention. - Assist students with identifying barriers to their academic success and work with them to
strengthen their skills and access resources on campus. - Support and advise students identified by faculty advisors or in the
Academic Probation program or are at risk of entering the Academic Probation program (as identified by faculty advisors and academic
alerts). - Plan and conduct successful advising interactions using the appreciative advising model.
- Disseminate information
in a clear and concise manner, maintain detailed and accurate records, and provide appropriate referrals based on the student’s individual
needs. - Assist students in developing an educational plan, including clarifying educational and career goals, choosing a program of
study, and assisting the student through this decision-making process. - Provide students with strategies related to academic
progress and work/life/study balance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in counseling, social
work, or higher education required. - 1-3 years of experience working in academic advising or student success in higher
education. - Excellent communication (written and oral).
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
with faculty, staff, and students. - Proficiency with technology (e.g., scheduling, software, and record-keeping)
- Strong
organizational and time management skills. - Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the mission of Rollins College.
Preferred
Qualifications:
- Ability to fluently speak Spanish.
Work
Environment:
- Campus-based, front-facing customer service position, working in an office environment with other staff
members. - Regular use of a computer.
- Must be able to work flexible hours which includes evenings and weekends as
needed.
