The
Assistant Director is a key member of the Pre-Health Advising team who develops group and individual advising programs for undergraduates
and advises current students and alumni completing the Pre-Health Board Process. Creates and leads group advising sessions for pre-health
students and co-teaches our two non-credit courses for pre-health students. Represents the University with representatives from different
health professions areas including medical, dental, optometry, physical therapy, occupational therapy, and nursing. Leads assessment and
evaluation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Advising

  • Advise and counsel individual
    undergraduate students and alumni, providing information and assistance to students regarding the prerequisites for applying to health
    professions schools.
  • Work with closely with students on their written application materials and the application process

Assessment and evaluation

  • Create and maintain reports to track admissions trends and academic performance for undergraduate
    students
  • Maintain reports on success of Brandeis applicants seeking admission to health professions programs
  • Oversees
    Tableau database
  • Serve as liaison to Institutional Research

Supervision

  • Along with Director, supervise
    Program Administrator on key projects, such as the Sophomore Check-In and alumni engagement. Supervise 4 temporary staff letter
    writers.

Teaching

  • Create and lead group advising sessions on topics relevant to pre-health students
  • Co-teach our two non-credit courses: Exploring Careers in Healthcare & Applying to Medical School and Dental School

Writing

  • Create reference materials for multiple health related fields
  • Compose committee letters of recommendation
    to support applicants to medical and dental school

Education & Work Experience

Master’s degree
required, plus 3-5 years related work experience.

diversity, equity, and inclusion. Passion for improving access for underrepresented groups to professional healthcare fields.

Familiarity with the health professions and/or undergraduate science curricula preferred
