Florida A&M University’s Business and Auxiliary Services Department is pleased to
announce the acceptance of qualified applications for the Assistant Vice President, Finance & Administration vacancy.
Responsibilities
The position reports to
the Vice President for Finance and Administration/CFO. The incumbent provides oversight for the following areas: Office of Business &
Auxiliary Services, Rattler Card Office, Dining Services, Bookstore, Vending (snacks and drinks) , Pouring Rights, Laundry, Business Center
(Copy Center & Postal Operations), Commercial Solicitation, University Box Office and Banking (Retail); Specific duties include responsible
for providing leadership, allocating resources to various entities as well as developing business strategies to enhance services provided to
the University Community (students, faculty and staff, alumni and others) and generating increased revenue; Develops and implements a
departmental strategic plan in alignment with customers’ requirements and the University’s/Division’s strategic plans; Ensures that
university required assessments are timely and accurately conducted; Adjusts and repositions operations accordingly; Updates departmental
strategic plan and assessment goals as needed; Acts as the contract manager and liaison for outsourced services; Maintains professional
relationships with business partners; Collaborates with the Office of Procurement Services, coordinates activity related to solicitations;
Negotiates, develops, implements and monitors contracts; and recommends contract addendum´s and renewals as required.
In collaboration with Human Resources, assesses the organizational structure and the knowledge, skills and abilities of
subordinates for optimal performance; Develops staffing recommendations accordingly; Attracts, recruits and retains skilled,
high-performance, and innovative individuals; Oversees the preparation of operating budgets; Monitors budgeted versus actual activity for
ensuring self sustainability and for meeting financial commitments; Responsible for the development and implementation of all fiscal
processes and procedures; Responsible for asset management; Ensures resources are allocated for facilities/infrastructure upgrades, repairs
and maintenance, etc.; and researches and recommends refreshes of concepts; Initiates contract amendments, to accommodate.
Drafts accurate and timely responses to compliance agencies i.e. Auditor Generals Office, Division of Audit, Division
of Compliance, etc.; Prepares materials and present Auxiliary-related agenda items to the Board of Trustees as required; Analyzes operations
to establish areas of cost reduction and to improve efficiency; Makes adjustment as appropriate; Performs other related duties/projects as
assigned by the CFO/Vice President for Administrative & Financial Services; Examines and suggests improvements and ratifies budgetary
estimates; Develops, recommends and directs the implementation of policies for the operation and control of the entities within Business and
Auxiliary Services; This includes interpreting policies, regulations and statutes; and represents the university on state, regional and
national committees and organizations.
Minimum
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in appropriate area of specialization and eight years of related
experience; or master’s degree in appropriate area of specialization and six years of related experience.

Pay Plan
This is an Administrative
and Professional (A&P) position.
