What we want
The Associate Vice President, Strategic Research Partnerships under general direction, oversees and provides leadership in the strategic and management research success of the Health Science Center (HSC) including development of innovation and strategic direction. This position will focus on research initiatives and projects in the Dallas-Fort Worth region.

Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in relevant field as related to the position
- Ten years of progressively responsible management experience, including some supervisory experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
- Knowledge of higher education.
- Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
- Oral and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others across a range of fields and perspectives on behalf of the Health Science Center
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree in relevant field as related to the position
- Experience managing high capital research projects
- Experience with research in state/federal setting
- Experience in higher education research
- Experience in grant writing and contracts
- Knowledge and/or experience with translational development of med-tech/bio-tech research projects including manufacturing (GMP) and transition to clinical testing
Responsibilities:
- Strategic Research Initiatives: Recommends creative new strategies and options for greater HSC involvement with state and federal payers as well as public, private and academic partners to help the HSC succeed in meeting its mission, vision, and strategic research priorities. Coordinates and assesses continuous improvement efforts throughout the HSC. Develops communication processes to provide clear guidance and solutions. Provides assessment and creative strategic analysis to develop new HSC research enterprise opportunities that are sustainable and provide paths for research opportunities and product growth.
- Collaboration: Assesses current policy, contractual and financial third- party relationships for HSC and develops options for enhanced relationships. Identifies opportunities and provides services to improve research grant acquisition success across the HSC. Recommends and creates programs for innovative research HSC involvement. Leverage expertise across HSC and Texas A&M system to build collaboration and develop innovative research solutions.
- Leadership: Advises and provides recommendations to the Vice President on a variety of research internal and external endeavors. Represents the Vice President, department, and University on various internal and external committees, and makes presentations as needed. Works with various internal and external entities to facilitate initiatives, and coordinates special projects as assigned by the Vice President. Develops reports and proposals. Provide leadership guidance to the Texas A&M HSC CIADM program. Develops, administers, and advises the Vice on the annual budget process. Drafts and administers relevant University policies, regulations, and rules. Monitors and analyzes state and federal legislative issues. Leads the development and implementation of the division’s strategic plan, establishing division goals and objectives. Directs divisional and departmental projects, programs, initiatives, and operations
