JOB
PURPOSE:
The Deputy Chief Operations Officer is responsible for supporting the EVP, Chief Operations Officer’s (COO) efforts in
the smooth and efficient operation of the following departments:
- Auxiliary Enterprise
- Enterprise Technology
Services - Facilities
- Human resources
- Public safety
- WHUR
- WHUT
The role has oversight for
the development of high quality, cost effective and integrated programs within the University. The management responsibilities of the role
transect the entire university with corresponding broad organizational implications, scope, and complexity. The incumbent provides the
University with advisory services, and serves as a strategist and implementer, playing a critical role in coordinating strategic initiatives
on behalf of the EVP, COO.
SUPERVISORY AUTHORITY:
Responsible for making recommendations within a department in the
areas of compensation, staff selection, disciplinary actions, complaints, staff performance appraisal, and similar supervisory duties.
Plans, assigns, and evaluates the work of subordinates for the effective operation and prime results for the University.
NATURE
AND SCOPE:
Internal contacts include students, faculty, staff, administration, university officials, academic Deans & Directors,
and senior level executives across the University. External contacts include procurement vendors and various contacts from educational
organizations.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Drive operations strategies formally and informally to leverage
consistency across the University - Interface with Officers, Department Managers, Faculty, and Staff
- Appropriately represent
the University at the Board of Trustees level at the request of or in the absence of the EVP, COO - Foster effective collaboration
between departments, divisions, leadership, faculty and other affiliated services to ensure an integrated approach to providing services,
and fulfilling the research and educational goals and objectives of the University - Support major workforce and resource decisions
for the University in collaboration with the EVP, COO - Keen leadership skill and ability to support the overall success of operations
of the University - Astute attention to be given to systems, program development, quality assurance, fiscal management, compliance,
work culture enhancement and internal communication, and consensus-building - Perform other related duties as assigned under the
direction of the EVP, COO

- Ability to work under pressure and set priorities in a
fast-paced environment
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree, and a minimum of 10 years of experience in
responsible operations at the administrative leadership level.
