Job Description
Primary Purpose:
The Chapel Sound Technician will provide audio
services for events not sponsored by the University.
Essential Functions:
- Rehearsal:
- Sound technician is
required attend all rehearsals in which music is being provided. Must attend for entire duration of rehearsal. - Provide microphone
service to all weddings – arrive 30 mins before wedding starts. - Make sure all equipment is operating correctly before each wedding.
i.e. check/replace batteries, check CD is working on our system, report needed repairs, maintenance and supplies to Chapel Manager. - Assist event party as to where any vocalist, reader, or musicians should perform, front of chapel, loft, etc.
- Sound technician is
- Wedding
or Event:- Coordinate with wedding hostess for any sound changes requested after rehearsal.
- Set kneelers and portable altar
if requested (return to original space after use). - Properly store and secure equipment after each event.
- Arrive at least
45 minutes prior to event start time. Arrange & test any microphones, music stands, and musician seating required (officiate, soloist,
reader). - Assist chapel staff in making events are successful.
- Additional tasks:
- Complete sound sheet
with notes for Chapel Manager. - Attend scheduled staff meetings.
- If unable to attend weddings schedule, give hostess enough
notice to find replacement for the day. - Pick up all trash/waste after each rehearsal and wedding.
- Vacuum carpet after each
rehearsal and wedding. - Clean up all/any garbage left in pews in chapel.
- Restock front pews with Kleenex.
- Set out
snacks and water in grooms and brides room.
- Complete sound sheet

Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Experience or
working knowledge of sound equipment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Reliable, positive attitude, and proven ability to
work successfully with diverse populations. - Strong technical ability to troubleshoot issues.
- Strong communication
skills. - Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in
advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting. - Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive
practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work performed five to ten (5-10) hours
weekly, varies by month depending on scheduled events.
Hiring Range: $15.50 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not
limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidates qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational
considerations when extending an offer.
