CHARITY PEOPLE

First and foremost, we warmly welcome candidates from all backgrounds and life experiences to apply. We are looking for individuals to add to the Board’s collective skills and experience, rather than fit an existing mould.

The organisation we are partnering with is the charity for families with disabled children. They understand that life with a disabled child brings unique challenges, and they exist to help families feel valued, supported, confident and informed.

Charity People is proud to be partnering with the charity to find a new Trustee, based in Northern Ireland. As a UK-wide charity, the organisation wants representation and voices from all four nations, and we will soon have a vacancy to represent and champion families across North Ireland, as the current trustee steps down following a successful term.

With a new CEO at the helm and soon to come into a new strategy setting phase in 2024, this is the perfect time to join the Board. You’ll play a crucial role in the collaborative decision-making that will set the future direction of the charity.

The Board is there to support the leadership team, provide constructive and positive challenge, and act as passionate ambassadors for the charity’s work. The charity’s current ambitious strategy ‘Transforming Lives Together’ aims to reach more families, earlier in their journey. The strategy focuses on how to make best use of digital tools and co-production to make services as responsive and accessible as possible.

Following a review of the Board’s skills mix, we’d love to speak to strategic leaders in campaigning, fundraising, marketing or legal services.

The Board already has a diverse mix of backgrounds and experience, and has been working to fully represent intersectional experiences for some time. We’re keen to continue to strengthen diversity to ensure the Board reflects the many experiences of the families they serve, cultivating a culture that values all individuals and their contributions.

We would be particularly keen to speak to parent carers and candidates from Black, Asian and ethnic minority backgrounds. It’s absolutely essential to the charity’s sustainability and authenticity that the Board fully represents the people and communities it serves.

Location: Trustees are based across the UK with remote accessibility possible for the majority of meetings.

The organisation is a vibrant and dynamic charity with a passionate and highly engaged trustee board. Trustees and staff alike care deeply about what they do. If you believe you can contribute through your experience and skills, then please get in touch.

A draft CV or profile would be a useful first step; however, please feel free to request a copy of the job pack and an informal conversation if you prefer. Amelia Lee is Charity People’s lead consultant on this opportunity.

Deadline: 9am on Friday 21st July

Interview date: to be confirmed

Charity People actively promotes equality, diversity and inclusion. We match charity needs with skills and experience of candidates, irrespective of age, disability (including hidden disabilities), gender, gender identity or gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, or sexual orientation. We do this because we know greater diversity will lead to even greater results for the charities with which we work.
