Job Summary

The chief diversity officer/director of the
center for diversity and inclusion provides direct support for increasing student retention of Lindenwood’s online, on ground,
traditional, non-traditional, and students from diverse backgrounds. This position manages the day-to-day operations of the Center for
Diversity and Inclusion and provides ongoing programming, resources, and engaging interactions aimed at creating a sense of belonging for
all Lindenwood students.

Job
Responsibilities and Execution

  • Supports the needs and concerns of students from diverse backgrounds. Works closely with
    student organizations, provides mentorship opportunities, and facilitates dialogue to ensure that students feel valued, included, and
    supported during their academic journey.
  • Enhances diversity in student enrollment, faculty, and staff populations by implementing
    inclusive recruitment and retention strategies.
  • Monitors and stays current with DEI emerging best practices related to student
    retention
  • Collaborates with campus partners to develop, implement and operationalize retention strategies for students from diverse
    backgrounds
  • Provides ongoing data updates that demonstrate the impact of each strategy on student retention by student
    demographics
  • Facilitates and provides ongoing data updates regarding the impact of DEI training activities for campus
    communities
  • Monitors the university’s DEI social media content and provides content recommendations to the AVP of
    Communications on activities and initiatives that increase a sense of belonging for all students
  • Develops, organizes, implements,
    and is responsible for new student organizations and groups aimed at student retention and at creating a sense of belonging for all
    students, such as the Black Student Excellence and Enrichment (BSEE) retention program
  • Provides a support network, including
    outreach, advocacy and other support services for marginalized students
  • Develops and implements educational Diversity Equity and
    Inclusion (DEI) programs for students
  • Generates new and innovative DEI event ideas for students and other campus constituents

  • Supports the mission of the university and serves as an ambassador of the Q2 culture of
    service excellence
  • Models, supports and holds others accountable to the university’s values – integrity, dedication,
    excellence, creativity and teamwork
  • Commits to the holistic development of diverse student populations
  • Promotes the
    university’s diverse student organization offerings
  • Attends student-related events and initiatives

Communication, Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Collaborates with faculty, staff and students to provide DEI training
    events 
  • Conducts campus climate surveys to assess the needs of the university community
  • Provides DEI resources to
    faculty, staff and students
  • Collaborates with admissions offices and human resources to attract and retain individuals from
    underrepresented groups.

Job may require other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
– An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Additional requirements may be
designated by position.

  • Master’s degree
  • Minimum 5 years’ higher education leadership experience
  • Prior related work experience
