WittKieffer and Lifespan have partnered in the national search for a Chief of Hospital Operations and President of Rhode Island and Hasbro Children’s Hospital. Based in Providence, RI, Lifespan is a $2. 5 billion, comprehensive academic health system and leading provider of comprehensive compassionate care. Lifespan serves as Rhode Island’s largest health system and private employer with 15,000 employees. Affiliated with The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, Lifespan includes five hospitals (Rhode Island Hospital, Miriam Hospital, Hasbro Children’s Hospital, Bradley Hospital, and Newport Hospital), a behavioral healthcare organization, primary and specialty practices, research and a variety of Institutes and programs. Reporting to the President and CEO of Lifespan, the Chief of Hospital Operations and President of Rhode Island and Hasbro Children’s Hospital will maintain a primary focus on hospital operations, working closely with hospital presidents to actively expand Lifespan’s healthcare programs and services, and oversee ongoing planning, development, operations, and evaluation of Lifespan’s hospitals. This leader’s oversight and leadership impact day-to-day operations and related academic training programs at Rhode Island Hospital, Hasbro Children’s Hospital, The Miriam Hospital, Newport Hospital, and Bradley Hospital. The Ambulatory clinics, urgent care centers, and hospital-based Ambulatory care will be directed by the Chief Physician Officer, while the Chief of Hospital Operations will direct Lifespan’s inpatient care and support. The Chief of Hospital Operations and President of Rhode Island and Hasbro Children’s Hospital will have deep operational experience in academic medical centers, or large complex, tertiary hospitals within a competitive market. This executive should have experience and be comfortable working within a multi-site health system.
Experience with contemporary and meaningful process improvement approaches, such as Lean/Six Sigma is preferred. The next Chief of Hospital Operations and President should have a strong understanding and successful record of optimizing clinical care delivery in acute care settings.
