EDUCATION

Master’s degree required.

EXPERIENCE

Two years of experience as a collaborative pianist. 

REQUIREMENT

Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES – The following are essential:

· Ability to sight-read fluently and learn music quickly.

· Thorough knowledge of a wide range of musical styles and repertoire.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.

· Ability to communicate effectively orally, by phone, in person, and in writing.

· Ability to represent the department and University in a friendly, courteous, and professional manner.

· Ability to use a personal computer and other office equipment, including related university software and email.

JOB SUMMARY

Performs collaborative piano duties for the Division of Music. Work includes accompanying students in lessons, studio classes, juries and recitals and performing with faculty and guest artists. Work is performed under minimal supervision and evaluation is based upon completion of assignments and results attained. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies & Procedures.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to: Division Head for Music

Supervises: No supervisory responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES –May include, but not limited to the following:

  • Provides piano accompaniment for music lessons, rehearsals, studio classes and performances.
  • Collaborates with faculty and guest artists on recitals and concerts.
  • Provides piano accompaniment for new student auditions.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

· Accompanies ensembles in rehearsals and performances.

· Provides individual student coaching.

· Performs on recording sessions with faculty.

· Assists with scheduling and coordination of on-call accompanists.

· Performs other duties as assigned.
