Boise, Idaho, Overview St. Luke’s Health System in Boise, Idaho is seeking a Full-time Communication Specialist Transport 1 to join our Air. St. Luke’s team. Payrange: $20. 25/HR – $23. 37/HR (Mid-point) Depending on experience Schedule: This is a 24/7 Emergency Communication Center, must have the availability to work 12-hour shifts including nights, days, weekends and holidays. Job Summary Under general supervision, the Communication Specialist is responsible for dispatching and tracking the transport vehicles, which includes helicopters, fixed wing and ground units. The Communication Specialist is also responsible for coordinating patient transfers and transports from referrals and maintaining ongoing records of the transfers/ transports. The Communication Specialist connects the referral with the appropriate resources, dispatches the appropriate vehicle, enters the information into the appropriate systems, and assures the safety of the transport team by establishing and maintaining communication.

Responsibilities Coordinates all resources necessary to affect safe and timely patient transports; including the assimilation of various forms of information to make quality decisions while performing a wide range of specialized functions and complex communication services (requests for transport, assessment and triage of multiple incoming requests for transport, and radio communication with all airborne aircraft) for all transport modalities. Determines team assignments based on available resources and acuity level of the transport. Monitors the safe performance of all transport aspects, serving as the central point for critical communication between the transport team and all other resources. Maintains effective and comprehensive communication with crew members (medical and aviation) and aircraft utilizing complex, statewide, multi-channeled radio system. Must also perform constant flight following procedures with all aircraft during missions according to FAA and St. Luke’s policies, including weather monitoring to ensure safe flight conditions. Documents appropriate and accurate detailed medical information pertaining to patient condition and all aspects for transport activity. Coordinates the details of medical transports by working with all necessary parties, including aviation and medical resources, with in and outside of St. Luke’s. Maintains and facilitates positive relationships with referring and receiving facilities and pre-hospital agencies to ensure a safe, coordinated and expeditious response for emergency assistance and/or transport for all customers, internal and external.

Utilizes good customer service practices. Ensures relevant operational information is conveyed to Leadership and co-workers on an ongoing basis and involves Air St. Luke’s Leadership for operational or relational issues in a timely manner when appropriate. Routes media inquiries to the appropriate resource, and courteously take varied complaints, questions or issues, dealing with them in a professional and appropriate manner and forwarding as appropriate. Manages emergency communications when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: HS diploma/GED. Experience: 0 years.
