Cambridge, Massachusetts, Job Description COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING ASSISTANT 1 , History Section (part-time, 20 hrs/wk. ), to perform diverse administrative duties with regular to minimal supervision. Responsibilities include managing the department website by keeping content updated and working with vendor on site maintenance; providing routine production and editing of content and administrative support for the department’s social media accounts, seminars, and events; maintaining the History Section’s directory of twenty-one faculty members, three lecturers, and three staff members for emergency and signage purposes; providing administrative assistance, when needed, in processing and tracking accounting documents, e. g. , requisitions, travel reports, and requests for payment; maintaining systems to allow for easy retrieval of materials; assisting the director with faculty promotion cases, e. g. , collection of materials, canvas case site, etc. ; serving as a backup to the undergraduate academic administrator as needed; and performing other duties as requested. Job Requirements REQUIRED : high school diploma or its equivalent; three years’ related administrative/office experience; excellent time management, organizational, communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills; meticulous attention to detail; high-level proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word); and familiarity with WordPress, Instagram, and Twitter. Must be able to prioritize and multitask despite frequent interruptions and deadline pressure; exercise independent judgment when creating content for website, events, and seminars; interact effectively with a diverse group of students, faculty, and staff; collaborate as part of a team; maintain confidentiality; interpret, communicate, and apply policies/procedures; anticipate needs; and execute and follow up on tasks.
PREFERRED : bachelor’s degree; proficiency with Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Creative Cloud applications, and web publishing; and MIT or other academic administration experience. Job #22924-5 This is a hybrid, part-time (20 hrs/wk. ) position. Schedule to be determined. 7/7/23
