Job Summary
The Coordinator,
Transfer and Tutoring will provide campus resources and implement co-curricular activities designed specifically for transfer students. The
coordinator will be responsible for the delivery of the university’s tutorial program via Upswing to promote educational enhancement for
students, and will monitor students’ usage and progress of the tutoring platform. Additionally, the coordinator will be responsible for
administering the college entrance tests to students seeking to enroll at the university. The specific tests are the ACT Residual and
Accuplacer (placement test for students over 21 and those admitted to the Summer Developmental Program (SDP).

Skills and Abilities
KNOWLEDGE OF:
- Federal, state and local laws regarding administration
of tests used to measure academic skills for college entrance and assessment - Counseling theories and techniques of learning and
human development, and relevant and desirable student learning outcomes; including intellectual growth, realistic self-appraisal, enhanced
self-esteem, clarified values, career choices and achievement of personal and educational goals. - The ability to assist students to
make educational planning decisions and develop academic success skills. - Computer technology skills including a working knowledge
of Microsoft Office, email/Internet applications, and student information systems such as Banner. - Excellent oral and written
communication skills.
SKILLS TO:
- Interact effectively with students
- Deliver intensive
intervention services where applicable for co-curricular enhancement of transfer students - Keep effective notes and
reports - Retrieve pertinent information in a timely manner
- Track students’ progress using the Upswing tutorial
platform

Essential Job Functions
- Provide
guidance and counseling to transfer students and monitor their progress toward matriculation - Coordinate information regarding
transfer students and other students requiring tutorial services; profile and prepare a need assessment for each student - Prepare
monthly reports detailing accomplishments, problems encountered, projections, and matriculation - Supervise test administration for
ACT Residual and Accuplacer, and score and interpret results - Administer and confidentially disseminate results of ACT Residual and
Accuplacer tests to admissions counselors and academic advisors - Provide guidance to promote satisfactory academic performance and
progression of transfer students toward the completion of coursework and graduation
OTHER
DUTIES:
- Follow federal, state and local laws applicable to administering assessment tests
- Follow established
policies and procedures set forth within the unit and the university - Participate in college-wide programs such as convocation, early
registration, new student orientation activities, high school day, and internal and external training activities/workshops - Teach the
University Life or Survival Skills I/II courses
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Guidance and
Counseling or related field; Five (5) or more years’ experience in counseling in higher education, and demonstrated ability having worked
with students in an academic environment preferred.
