Durham, North Carolina, Duke Homecare & Hospice Duke Homecare & Hospice offers hospice, home health and infusion services as well as serves as the home for the Duke Caregiver Support Program. Our Hospice team works closely with a patient’s physician to provide comprehensive, individualized care in the comfort their home or at our inpatient hospice facility located in Durham. Our team of nurses, therapists, social workers, counselors, and chaplains help patients and their families manage advanced medical conditions. Duke Home Health provides services in a patient’s home that include skilled nursing, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, social service, home health aides, and pain and wound management. Our infusion team comes to a patient’s home to administer intravenous medications, including antibiotics and chemotherapy, to children and adults. Our nurses, pharmacists, dietitians, and patient services coordinators work under the direction of a patient’s doctor to monitor needs and treatment. Courier -PRN General Description of the Job Summary Responsible for the delivery of products to recipient in a courteous and efficient manner. Department Distribution Center Reports to Program Coordinator or Director Supervises N/A MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Delivers pharmaceuticals, supplies, and equipment in safe, accountable manner. Picks up sharps containers and disposes of biohazardous wastes according to established infection control procedures. Visually inspects assigned vehicle daily for obvious maintenance problems (e.
g. , worn tires, cracked mirrors, signal lights not working, etc. ) Maintains assigned vehicle in clean and orderly condition, both inside and outside; informs supervisor of mechanical or safety problems. Ensures that routine mechanical maintenance is performed on assigned vehicle. Maintains current driver’s license and current automobile insurance at required levels of coverage. Participates in weekly and monthly on call schedule. Handles customer complaints patiently and in a fair and empathetic manner. Uses safe lifting techniques in loading and unloading equipment. Accurately pull, package and ship medical supplies from packing lists/delivery tickets for patients. Coordinates time sensitive deliveries to patients and healthcare providers using DHCH couriers, contracted couriers, and commercial carriers.
Maintains a positive relationship and understanding of the services provided by both Duke employed and contracted couriers. May be required to perform various general warehousing duties, such as shipping, receiving, and general warehouse cleaning. Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education and Formal Training Work requires the ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions generally acquired through a partial high school education. Licensures, Certifications A valid North Carolina driver’s license must be maintained with a good driving record free of restrictions. Professional Work Experience Work requires six months delivery experience. Professional Work Experience Previous customer service and delivery/shipping experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities May be required to safely lift up to 50 pounds.
