Covid Safety Officer
Job Summary
Pioneer Theatre Company (PTC) is a professional theatre in residence at the University of Utah. The Company’s COVID
Safety Officer (CSO) oversees the implementation of all COVID-related efforts within
PTC and continues to develop and implement protocols as circumstances evolve and requirements by affiliated
creative unions change. The CSO will collaborate with all PTC Departments to keep the
safety of all employees a top priority.
Responsibilities
Areas of Responsibility:
- Receive Arts & Sciences COVID Compliance Officer training and certification provided by the theatre.
- Teach all COVID training
sessions. - Work with production and department heads to ensure that all departments are following guidelines.
- Stay informed
regarding COVID practices amongst the theatre sector, as well as CDC, University of Utah, and local guidelines to make sure protocols are up
to date. - In collaboration with management and production teams, oversee the implementation of COVID screening and testing of
employees, actors, creatives, and others. - The CSO will isolate and report any testing group member who develops symptoms of
COVID-19 in the theatre, in accordance with the AEA Fully Vaccinated Safety Rider. In the event that a production group member tests
positive for COVID-19, the CSO will enact the protocols laid out in the Rider. - Collaborate with Company Management to ensure that
custodial staff is cleaning and sanitizing workspaces in accordance with protocols. The CSO will sanitize high-touch areas and items
throughout the day but will not be responsible for providing regular custodial services. - Maintain up-to-date records of staff
testing and meet all state and county reporting requirements. - Manage and track PPE and test inventory.
- May schedule and
oversee other COVID Safety team members for rehearsals and productions.
A Successful Candidate
Covid Safety
Management has recently emerged as an occupation in the performing arts sector. Experience in the field is not expected nor required. A
successful candidate will have the following:
- Knowledge of or experience working in a theatre or equivalent experience
- Current knowledge of COVID protocols for the performing arts sector
- Familiarity with Actors Equity Associations COVID protocols
and those of the other creative unions - Excellent oral communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent
organizational/project management skills and attention to detail. - Proactive attitude and approach to all responsibilities
- Ability to quickly adapt to the needs of the organization and employees, as protocols change.
- A commitment to working with
diverse groups in terms of gender expression, race, sexual orientation, religion, ability, age, and class.

Minimum
Qualifications
Six years related experience or equivalency (1 year of college education is equivalent to 2 years of related work
experience). Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills also required. Bachelors degree in a related area is preferred.

Work Schedule Summary:
Work schedule based on rehearsal and performance schedules, which exceed 40 hours per week when in rehearsal. This is a job-sharing
opportunity for 2 or 3 people to cover all hours. Season ends mid-June.
