Nashville, Tennessee, Organization: Cytopathology Job Summary: Job Summary: Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is seeking to hire a Cytotechnologist (CT) 2 in the Diagnostic Anatomic Surgical Cytopathology Laboratories, whom will report to the Team Leader of Cytology Laboratories, and whom will have responsibilities for screening GYN slides for the purpose of microscopic detection and diagnosis of cancer, premalignant changes, and other non-neoplastic diseases. The CT 2 is also responsible for FNA (Fine Needle Aspiration) procedures under occasional guidance. The CT 2 is responsible for the accurate performance in a manner that complies with all approved protocols. The CT 2 utilizes critical thinking and problem solving skills to assure accurate and reliable clinical outcomes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: *Provides patient-focused care in a clinical setting through the accurate microscopic evaluation of cell samples from gynecologic. *Actively participates in compliance and quality management activities on a daily basis. *Effectively use laboratory computer programs and medical center applications according to laboratory policies and procedures. *The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned. Position Qualifications Required: TN special analyst license for Cytotechnology: Cytotechnologist (ASCP) National certification obtained on or after August 1, 1988 must also submit proof that certification was awarded based upon the applicant’s possession of a baccalaureate degree earned at a regionally accredited college/university and cytology training from a school accredited by the Committee on Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA), Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or other accrediting body acceptable to the Board. National certification obtained prior to August 1, 1988 need only submit proof that national certification was awarded regardless of the prerequisites upon which it was based.
