Dance Accompanist – Department of Dance

The Department of Dance is seeking a Dance Accompanist to prepare and
provide collaborative musical accompaniment for dance classes and/or performances.

Key Responsibilities:

• Learn, practice, and play dance repertoire for classical ballet and modern dance.
• Improvise musically in support of
  course instructor as needed.
• Develop new styles to work with changing faculty.
• Recommend additions to accompanying
  library.
• Provide guest lectures for Music Essentials.
• Maintain music library.
• May supervise student
  accompanists.

Education Required:

• Bachelor’s degree in required area of musical performance or equivalent combination of
  education and professional accompanying experience.

Required Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of
  experience as a professional accompanist.
• Basic professional level music skills in the style and instrument that will support the
  assigned courses.
• Working knowledge of accompaniment genre such as Modern Dance, Ballet, Vocal Music, and Instrumental Music.
• Approachable, cooperative, and able to contribute to an overall positive and productive work/team environment. (Basic Experience)

Desired Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree preferred.
• Experience working in a higher
  education setting desired.
