Dance Accompanist – Department of Dance
The Department of Dance is seeking a Dance Accompanist to prepare and
provide collaborative musical accompaniment for dance classes and/or performances.
Key Responsibilities:
- Learn, practice, and play dance repertoire for classical ballet and modern dance.
- Improvise musically in support of
course instructor as needed. - Develop new styles to work with changing faculty.
- Recommend additions to accompanying
library. - Provide guest lectures for Music Essentials.
- Maintain music library.
- May supervise student
accompanists.

Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in required area of musical performance or equivalent combination of
education and professional accompanying experience.
Required Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of
experience as a professional accompanist. - Basic professional level music skills in the style and instrument that will support the
assigned courses. - Working knowledge of accompaniment genre such as Modern Dance, Ballet, Vocal Music, and Instrumental Music.
- Approachable, cooperative, and able to contribute to an overall positive and productive work/team environment. (Basic Experience)
Desired Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree preferred.
- Experience working in a higher
education setting desired.
