Description

To perform a variety of duties related to the operation of the District theaters; and to perform a variety of tasks relative to
assigned area of responsibility; provides guidance and oversight of lower staff, volunteers and student
employees.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from an assigned
supervisor.

Oversees the work of lower level theater staff.

Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Assist in a
    lead role with front-of-house operational activities including set-up, run, and/or strike of shows and events.
  2. Ensure for a safe and
    comfortable experience for event guests.
  3. Observe, report, and take action to correct unsatisfactory and dangerous
    conditions.
  4. Maintain a positive rapport with clients, guests, and co-workers.
  5. Establish and enforce District and facility
    policies and rules of operation, assuring workplace safety and fire prevention strategies.
  6. Direct, establish and maintain event
    program schedules and production calendars in consultation with appropriate faculty, staff, Deans and other facility users, including
    non-District performing groups.
  7. Train, direct and oversee lower level theater staff and student
    employees.

Qualifications

Knowledge of: 

  • Principles and procedures of
    customer service.
  • Principles and practices of supervision and training.
  • Pertinent fire regulations and safety
    codes.
  • Oral and written communications skills.
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
  • Safety
    regulations and procedures.

Ability to: 

  • Take direction and follow standard safety
    procedures.
  • Communicate effectively and serve the needs of a diverse population of clients and guests.
  • Work with simple hand
    tools.
  • Respond to requests and inquiries from the general public, faculty and students.
  • Work a flexible schedule including
    evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely,
    both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective work relationships.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the
    diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, linguistic, ethnic backgrounds and disabilities of community college student and
    staff.
  • Lift and carry up to 30 pounds; stand for prolonged periods of time; operate small power tools.

Education
and Experience Requirements:

          Education: 

Completion of the twelfth grade or
the equivalent.

Experience:

One year experience related to the operations of a theater or facility.
