As a Desktop Support Technician, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting the accounts held by CDW by assisting in account management and administration. Developing the full potential of these accounts by working both internally and externally on new business solutions for the clients. You will require an aptitude for working with applications/systems to undertake analysis, diagnoses, and resolution to user issues.

What you’ll do:

Strong Infrastructure and Active Directory including SAN fundamentals.
Microsoft Windows system administration and network management skills
Network configuration including LAN & WAN, Wi
Understanding of Backup technologies.
Windows server system administration MS
Excellent understanding of Mail environments
Understanding of TCP/IP connectivity
Firewall concepts/Security management and reporting
Backup management
Anti-virus configurations
VPN knowledge beneficial
Upgrades / Technology: Proactively research and implement new software /hardware.
General maintenance (hardware/software) of Datacentre
Remote assistance: offsite support to all users
Communicate at all levels both internal and external.
Document infrastructure, design details, username, passwords.
Carry out capacity planning and availability management on the infrastructure and inform stakeholders of risks and change requirements.
Review new solutions and communicate ideas through to management. E.g… Backup solution nearing capacity, research new solutions and keep management informed.
Perform any duty assigned to you by management.

What you need to succeed:

Must-have:

Strong Communication Skills
Strong Customer Facing Skills
Strong Troubleshooting Skills and technical aptitude.
Minimum directly related experience of 5years.
Driver’s License, reliable vehicle, current auto insurance policy with a Good Driving Record
Degree or Equivalent Technical Professional Certifications

They should have a solid grasp of technology, a willingness to engage in self-study, and the ability to introduce new solutions for discussion.  Effective communication skills are essential for CDW engineers, as their ability to help clients understand complex matters relies on clear and concise communication. Lastly, engineers should maintain an even-tempered disposition and avoid becoming easily frustrated, allowing them to approach challenges with patience and find optimal solutions.
