Durham, North Carolina, Title: Application Analyst II General Description of the Job Class The Application Analyst II couples knowledge of business practices/operations with knowledge of information systems to implement, maintain and support Duke IT applications. Role: This role is an Application Analyst II for Duke’s Unified Communications platform called Symphony. Job Description The Application Analyst II position focuses on the lifecycle management of Duke Applications for the Symphony solution. Emphasis is on application support for the clinical teams, troubleshooting and resolving issues affecting clinical operational areas, stability of the applications in the clinical environment, and managing the team to deliver an excellent experience for clinical use of the Symphony solution. The Application Analyst works with across Duke Health Technology Solutions (DHTS) and other operational areas, vendors, and clinical teams to facilitate the design, development, implementation, and support of applications. Two years or more of related experience is required. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred or equivalent in leadership and innovation experience. Ability to understand and translate clinical/operational business processes into a technical solution. Efficient and effective in project management including driving closure to deliverables and ensuring the team stays on track to target deadlines affecting patient care areas. Seasoned in implementing complex information systems, applications, and modalities. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Passionate about communicating clearly and succinctly to customers to ensure they are aware of IT system changes prior to scheduling. Experience and focus in the delivery of quality assurance solutions; able to lead team huddles to address quality issues in clinical performance. Able to manage complex resource situations between organizations. Ability to lead discovery sessions with various clinical operational areas, DHTS, and vendors/partners. Advanced technical support experience. Ability to design and develop clinical workflows and architecture diagrams for operational areas.
Experience with data coding (general), data analysis and trending, database design/programming, database management software, and statistical reporting. Knowledge in reviewing design specifications for devices (mobile and stationary), modalities, and applications to ensure they are interoperable; experience in implementing and maintaining IT solutions based on these elements. Knowledge of Duke Financial and Procurement procedures/policies/requirements. Experience with Contract negotiations and managing vendor relationships to keep them accountable and to serve as partners in supporting our environment. Team player. Experience with Clinical Applications used to integrate a variety of medical devices Development experience in at least one language/environment SCRUM experience DevOps working knowledge/experience Coordinate design, implementation, and management of HL7 Interfaces and FHIR APIs. Responsibilities Facilitate issue resolution with internal teams: Service Desk, Networking, Device Support, Citrix, OS, Server, VM/Docker Containers, Database, App development, Operations, DevOps. Assist in the evaluation and revision of existing information systems, data, and system flow in preparation to optimize, upgrade or replace in support of the Symphony platform. Identify areas for procedural and product improvements. Assess detailed specifications describing products/functionality to be improved, upgraded, or implemented.
Partner with clinical teams to understand clinical workflows to ensure they are supported efficiently with existing or new applications/devices. Provide analysis and advanced support including hardware maintenance, troubleshooting, component replacement/repair, system monitoring, and installation/maintenance of software. Plan and coordinate system and application upgrades. Coordinate application testing. Author and update system documentation. Ensure application/data backup and disaster recovery processes are in place and tested. Utilize local, vendor and Cloud based solutions to host apps & facilitate data transfer. Ensure systems conform to Duke Information Security Office policies and procedures. Ensure security of technology solutions including maintenance and development of ISOPs as well as assisting in vulnerability management. Coordinate continuous vulnerability management/patching for each apps servers.
Manage logs: application, OS, and system. Follow established Change Management processes. Provide feedback on departmental processes and procedures/suggest improvements. Collaborate with Administrative, Clinical and Research customers to understand and meet needs. Analyze customer requirements; research, design, acquire and implement innovative systems. Coordinate and operationalize complex projects with direction. Make oral and written presentations to project teams, management, and customers. Develop relationships with vendors to ensure customer needs are met in a timely manner. Function as a subject matter expert, with proficiency ina defined area(s) of the profession as well as haveing a broad knowledge of all aspects of the profession. May conduct continuing education and lead discovery sessions as well as new employee training.
Responsible for support management in day-to-day personnel oversight and workflow, management activities, as well as staff performance reviews. Identify internal resources to build project teams as required. Provide application system support for team apps – rotating 24×7 support.
