Newton/NJ/USA, Overview Atlantic Health System is seeking a Full-Time Dietician for the Food Service Department at Newton Medical Center. Required hours vary. Responsibilities Essential Funtion/Responsibilities: The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for providing comprehensive nutrition care. This will be completed with interactions among inpatients, outpatients, registered dietitians, other Food and Nutrition team members, multidisciplinary team members in hospital units, and community organizations. Conducts nutrition screening to identify patients at nutrition risk in accordance with hospital policy. Conducts chart reviews, patient/family interview, and works with the interdisciplinary team to gather necessary information utilizing the nutrition care process to complete nutrition assessments on all assigned patients. Makes appropriate therapeutic diet recommendation, oral nutrition supplements recommendations, or nutrition support recommendations in accordance with hospital diet order guidelines and formulary. Completes order writing for nutrition orders as appropriate per guidelines of AHS and department policy. Completes Education as indicated with patient/family identified needs and ability. Monitors and assigns nutrition assessment follow-ups as per hospital policy.
Participates in multidisciplinary rounds as assigned. Provides support to Dietetic Assistants and other Food and Nutrition team members on therapeutic diet and menus as requested. Interacts with the diet office to clarify menus and resolve problems with menus and/or meal service. Participates in the hospital as a nutrition advocate and educator. Participates in community health events as requested. Maintains standards of the Food and Nutrition Department and those set by the hospital, the New Jersey Department of Health, and the Joint Commission. Qualifications Qualifications/Requirements: Maintain Registered Dietitian Status with the Commission on Dietetic Registration and competencies per AHS department polices Must be able to read, write and speak English Minimum Education: BS in Nutrition/Dietetics or equivalent required License/Certification: Registered Dietitian required. Presently eligible to take the Registered Dietitian Exam.
