Essential Job
Functions:

1. Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates work activities of subordinates and staff, including hiring, coaching,
evaluating, and terminating, all in accordance with university policies and procedures.

2. Ensures all processes and procedures,
necessary to deliver optimal career and academic advising services are administered and followed on a day-to-day basis.

3. Represents
and promotes career and academic advising services by fostering collaborative relationships with faculty and staff across NSU.

4.
Ensures adequate data and appropriate assessment tools to measure career and academic advising services are collected, maintained, and
disseminated to executive leadership and university stakeholders.

5. Oversees the development and implementation of a comprehensive
academic and career advising program that will result in increased student retention, degree attainment, graduation outcomes and student
satisfaction.

6. Collaborates with Deans and faculty to remove unnecessary or unintended barriers to degree progress.

7.
Ensures students are provided consistent, accurate and prompt academic career and advising services.

8. Serves as a liaison between
the Center for Academic and Professional Success and admissions units; works actively to promote communication and develop seamless transfer
of student services as applicants become enrolled students.

9. Investigates student, staff, and interdepartmental concerns;
participates in problem resolutions and recommends corrective action when necessary.

10. Creates a reputation of excellence within
the university by developing and maintaining relationships with students, staff, and faculty across NSU.

11. Leads and supports
employee engagement initiatives.

12. Assists in the organization, implementation, and coordination of special events and
programming.

13. Acts as a backup to the Assistant Dean in her/his absence.

14. Participates on university
committees.

15. Completes other projects as assigned.

17. Performs other duties as assigned.

Marginal Job
Functions:

1. Attends workshops, career fairs, seminars, professional meetings, and conferences. Participates in NSU-wide events
and programs.

2. Evaluates, updates, and maintains departmental policies and procedures.

3. Researches current trends in
academic advising.

4. Assists with compiling data of surveys/reports; creates assessment tools to evaluate programs and
services.

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
Knowledge:
1. Personnel and Human Resources – Advanced
knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, and supervision.
2. Customer and Personal Service
– Thorough knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
3. Administration and Management –
Thorough knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, budgeting, leadership
techniques, and/or coordination of people and resources.
4. English Language – Thorough knowledge of the structure and content of the
English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.
5. Education and Training – Thorough
knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups.

guidance.

and procedures.

Working conditions:
