Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center Location : US:PA:Lancaster Work Type : Full Time FTE : 1. 00 Shift : Varied Hours : Varied Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center is seeking a progressive and experienced Director of Nursing, Women’s Services. This position will have oversight of the hospital’s Family Birthing Unit which includes three delivery rooms, eight postpartum rooms, a C-section operating room and one flex room, which is specially equipped for all care that could be needed for obstetrics patients, available in one room. The experienced nursing team can tend to babies with additional needs in the special care nursery. The Family Birthing Suite features spacious, private rooms with amenities including hydrotherapy tubs and aromatherapy. This is a wonderful opportunity for an innovative leader who is seeking an opportunity grow and develop an expanding obstetrics service line with potential for future opportunity to provide NICU services through collaboration with Penn State Children’s Hospital. Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer, the Director of Nursing, Women’s Services will provide overall leadership, daily management and direction for the service line including but not limited to providing strategic direction and leadership for staffing systems and strategy within the department. Serves as a resource to manage daily operations of clinical staffing with the expectation of long-term financial savings through enhanced utilization, scheduling, and deployment of staff. Provides coordination of staff services across the organization with the intent of creating improved responsiveness to patient needs. Provide overall strategic project management, facilitation, and on-going maintenance of a centralized staff scheduling/deployment system utilizing a software platform to manage staff.
The Director of Nursing, Women’s Services will collaborate with the leadership of Penn State Health multidisciplinary teams to facilitate an excellent patient experience and to systematically improve assess, quality and patient experience. The individual selected for this critical role regularly interacts with the senior leadership of Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center, as well as colleagues throughout the Penn State Health System. ESSENTIAL DUTIES : Clinical Care Delivery and Optimal Patient Outcomes Assesses and evaluates data leading to vacancy and turnover and creates corrective action plan Determines and recommends appropriate staffing levels based on patient acuity and patient needs Develops programs to meet the changing needs of the organization and improve efficiency of operations Enhances staffing services and hospital reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments Develops and implements evidence-based practice policies, procedures and guidelines in collaboration with Chief Nursing Officer MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor’s degree required PA Nursing License required PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Master’s degree preferred Minimum two (2) years related management experience preferred Proven track record of excellent interpersonal and communication skills Excellent leadership skills with the ability to lead individuals and team to accomplish common goals Experience working with clinical and administrative leadership to drive strategic/business planning and financial and operational performance Why Penn State Health Lancaster Medical Center.
