Job Description
As part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and
worldviews, Marian University is seeking a Director of Academic Engagement. The Director of Academic Engagement will promote Marian
University’s Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by serving as an essential member of the CASE (Center for Academic Success and
Engagement) team and is responsible for developing and maintaining robust, high-quality academic support services for the institution. The
director sets the vision for creative, high-impact academic engagement strategies that impact student success and academic persistence. This
position also works collaboratively with many university offices and individuals, including: The Academic Commons, academic departments and
faculty, CASE team members, and professionals within Student Success and Engagement
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
- Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the
Franciscan Sponsorship Values and honoring the legacy of the founding congregation through transformative education, unity in diversity,
leadership through service, integrating faith and life, and institutional policies. - Provides strategic leadership and development
for academic engagement, while ensuring quality services are being offered to all Marian University students including graduate students,
ABSN students, MAP students, 4-year traditional students, and 2-year students (SJI and some MUAC). - Provides administrative
leadership and management staff, projects and programming associated with Academic Engagement. - Works collaboratively with faculty,
department chairs, and advisors to develop, update, and implement targeted interventions and supports to increase students’ academic success
and retention - Designs and facilitates workshops that support student success, student access, and student retention.
- Creates
and implements academic co-curricular initiatives designed to increase persistence and graduation rates with a specific focus on first-year
students. - Ensures academic engagement is engaging with promising and best-practices related to retention, persistence, and
graduation rates. - Identifies opportunities to engage the broader Marian University community by indentifying partnerships, community
engagement, and potential funding opportunities. - Determines procedures and processes to ensure quality academic support services for
on-campus students as well as online and remote learners. - Actively collaborates with Center for Academic Success and Engagement
(CASE) team members and Academic Commons colleagues.
Required Qualifications:

- Master’s degree is student affairs, higher education administration or similar field.
- 3-5 years
or progressive experience in student success is required. Preference will be given to those with experience working in tutoring
centers.
