Summary:
The Office of Equal Opportunity and Access is seeking a Director of Equal Opportunity Investigations/Deputy Title IX
Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.

Investigations and Deputy Title IX Coordinator provides the strategic vision, leadership, and management of the university’s equal
opportunity unit within EOA. The position works collaboratively with others in the office to advance inclusion in our increasingly diverse
community by ensuring university compliance with relevant federal and state anti-discrimination laws as well as to develop strategic
objectives and advance institutional goals related to equity, inclusion, and diversity. As a unit leader and Deputy Title IX Coordinator,
the Director also works collaboratively with other leaders across units and at the direction of the Executive Director to advance
priorities.

Key Responsibilities
75% – LEAD WORK / SUPERVISORY
RESPONSIBILITIESProvides direct supervision for three Equity Associates, one Intake & Assessment Associate, and one Case
Coordinator.
The Director has the following broad lead work/supervisory responsibilities:
- Provides leadership and management
to equal opportunity and equity functions within the equal opportunity unit, including strategic vision, administrative function, and
personnel management. - Develops and implements collaborative strategies to ensure the effective integration of the work of equal
opportunity with all aspects of equity, inclusion, and diversity. - Provides direction to the work of staff engaged in equal
opportunity functions, including planning, assigning, and reviewing work, and evaluating performance. - Interviews and hires staff;
identifies training needs and recommends appropriate training; resolves problems and grievances; initiatives disciplinary actions; and
rewards employees. - In collaboration with the Executive Director, works collaboratively with other employees across units to advance
the departments priorities.
Process Collaboration
- Provides leadership within EOA, across campus, and with the broader
community to ensure effective collaboration and thoroughly vetted institutional procedures for intaking and resolving complaints and
conducting investigations. - Internally, leads the equal opportunity unit through processes to define and revise consistent complaint
and investigatory practices. - Externally, brings together equal opportunity staff, campus partners at OSU, and local experts
external to OSU to define, revise, and collaborate on complaint and investigatory processes that effectively ensure OSU compliance with
applicable legal requirements and core campus values. In support of that effort, participate or arrange for participation on campus-wide
committees.
Complaints & Investigations
- Provides direct supervision including leadership, guidance, and case management
over investigatory responsibilities for complaints related to Title IX / sexual misconduct, protected status discrimination / discriminatory
harassment, Equal Pay Act, retaliation, bullying, and consensual relationship policy violations. - Provides oversight and guidance to
complaint and conflict resolution work by equity associates that includes offering even-handed assistance to address difficult and complex
issues, facilitating difficult conversations, designing and implementing interventions, providing strategies for informal conflict
resolution, as well as conducting formal investigations and issuing written findings and/or determinations. - Responsible for the
project management of complaints in order to ensure timely response, resolution, and closure for campus constituents. - Collaborates
with the Office of the General Counsel, the Office of Human Resources, the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, and other
units in the resolution of civil rights and tort claims. - Meets with academic and administrative departments, employees, students,
volunteers, vendors, and community members to discuss and resolve concerns relating to access to programs and services, equal opportunity,
discrimination, sexual harassment, bullying, and retaliation.
10% – EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Develops
opportunities for individuals and communities to build skills to interact effectively across difference, enhancing university capacity for
conflict resolution and restorative justice, and creating and sustaining environments that are equitable and inclusive. - Partners
with other offices, as needed, to design and conduct educational training sessions on broader topics of equity, inclusion, and diversity in
how they relate to equal opportunity obligations.
15% – SERVICE AND OTHER ACTIVITIES
- Provides service to
the university and surrounding community, including participation on university committees and in campus/community activities related to
diversity, equity, equal opportunity, and affirmative action. - Additional responsibilities as assigned, including opportunities for
growth and professional development in other areas of interest related to equity, inclusion, and diversity.
What You Will
Need
Masters degree or a Juris Doctorate and a minimum of 3 years experience conducting relevant investigations;
or a Bachelors degree and a minimum of 5 years experience conducting relevant investigations.
Relevant investigation experience includes civil rights, discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, Title IX, student conduct,
grievance, human resources, workplace, criminal justice, child abuse, or similar investigations.
The successful candidate will also
have the following required knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Understanding of the principles and practices of equal opportunity,
equity, inclusion, and diversity (from education, personal/professional development, and/or work experience); - Demonstrated
knowledge and understanding of federal anti-discrimination laws, regulations, and processes, particularly as related to Title IX and the
Violence Against Women Act; - Ability to ensure fair, objective, and impartial investigations and resolutions, with due process;
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with difficult issues in complex environments;
- Commitment to
advancing diversity and creating inclusive environments; - Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment in professional
environments; - Ability to develop and cultivate relationships with campus and community partners to work effectively, both
independently and collaboratively, across multiple aspects of difference; - Demonstrated understanding of and ability to work
effectively with people who have experienced forms of bias, harassment, and/or violence based on their identity, and in particular sexual
harassment/assault; - Demonstrated supervisory or team building ability;
- Demonstrated ability to use strong analytical,
critical thinking, and synthesis skills; - Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write
cogent investigatory reports/summaries, the ability to carefully review and edit documents, and the ability to present content in an manner
that is understandable and accessible to stakeholders; - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook),
as well as database systems and case management software (such as Maxient).
This position is designated as a critical or
security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position
qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions.
