Job Description:

Raritan Valley Community College is currently
seeking a Director of Student Life.

Reporting to the Dean of Student Affairs, and serving as a key administrator within the college
community, the Director of Student Life is responsible for developing programs and activities that support the needs of students and fosters
personal growth. The Director will oversee the implementation of student life programs and activities which complement the mission of the
College, cultivate a welcoming community, support social justice, and embrace the diversity in our population. The Director will promote
student leadership and foster a student life program that promotes civic and social growth, and encourages student engagement

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides strategic and operational oversight of the Office of Student Life
    while providing direct supervision of staff.
  • Develops and implements a comprehensive student development plan which positively
    impacts student persistence and engagement.
  • Develops, supports and motivates new as well as recognized student clubs and
    organizations
  • Supports the work of the student government association, and other student organizations by providing leadership
    training for these groups.
  • Develop and oversee the implementation of student life programming to support various student
    populations (i.e. historically underserved populations, LGBTQ Students, etc.).
  • Supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned
    staff; interview and participate in selecting employees; train and evaluate personnel according to established policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership for new student orientation, seminars and workshops in collaboration with the Office of Advising Counseling and
    Transfer Services.
  • Manage and maintain the student budget in ways that benefit the diverse study body and allocates funding to
    support the development plan.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and oversight of the Student Government Association (SGA) including
    managing annual SGA elections.
  • Oversee and coordinate the management and utilization of the Student Life building.
  • Assess
    productivity and success of programs, policies, and services.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in student personnel, higher education administration or related field and
    five years of experience and demonstrated effectiveness in Student Affairs administration.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability
    to present to large groups. 
  • High degree of reliability and flexibility; ability to work in a fast-paced, multi-cultural
    environment.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity, knowledge, and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, gender, cultural,
    disability, and ethnic backgrounds of students and sensitivity to and knowledge and understanding of groups historically underrepresented,
    and groups who may have experienced discrimination.
  • Some weekends and evenings required based on programming needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the administration of campus programs.
  • At least five years
    of experience in student development programming. 
  • Demonstrated experience in working in a team environment. 
  • Willingness to accept new responsibilities as the needs of students change.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the Community College
    mission.
  • Technological proficiency with web applications, MS Office, Learning Management System (e.g., Canvas), and other college
    focused focus systems.
