Job Summary/Basic Function
This position provides oversight and direction for the Center for Pre-health Professional Programs and facilitates daily operations within the Center and supervises professional staff. The Director of Pre-Health Programs is responsible for the creation of learning and engagement opportunities for students to explore a variety of pre-health professions, and providing support and strategies to enhance student learning and promote student success, while working closely with academic colleges and the medical school, colleagues across campus, and outside constituents. In conjunction with other members of the campus community including Enrollment Management, the Registrar’s Office, and Student Affairs, the Director will collaborate on a variety of student success and retention initiatives to support University goals, as well as represent the Center on University committees and at University events, such as orientations, enrollment events, and in communications with prospective students.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree.
Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership and supervisory experience administering an academic advising program or center and/or a comprehensive academic support program.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree in a field related to academic advising (such as higher education administration, college student personnel, or education), or pre-health. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; strong oral communication skills; excellent organization skills and attention to detail; experience with university computer systems or similar computer technologies, i.e. BANNER Admin, DARS, EAB-Navigate; excellent written and oral communication skills. must work collaboratively with a team on issues of student success and have an understanding of student retention.
Essential Functions and percent of time
Manage system to monitor pre-health students’ persistence and progress toward academic and career goals (and providing support for alternative pathways when applicable); recruits outstanding students into the program. Develop, manage and implement program events, workshops, mentoring and test prep courses. Coordinates post-bac certificate and co-major programs. Supervise peer mentors and test prep instructors. (30%)
Serves as the lead for the Medical Scholars program; identify qualified students, work with undergraduate colleges and staff to address issues or make changes to the program/process. (20%)
Create, manage and implement processes, presentations and materials that provide information about the Center and programs to prospective students and families through programs sponsored by Enrollment Management. (15%)
Conduct data analysis on acceptance rates into various health professions programs and disseminate the information to applicable individuals across the campus. Analyze and communicate admissions trends at various health profession schools including changes to admission requirements, application process, and admissions tests through membership in NAAHP/CAAHP. (15%)

Oversee the process assisting students with professional school applications which includes writing letters of recommendation, helping students complete applications accurately and in a timely fashion to increase their chance for admission into a health professions school, meeting with students individually to review their applications, providing information on completing applications, letters of recommendation, writing application essays, and interviewing at professional schools. (10%)
Lead the Pre-health scholarship process in collaboration with the office of Financial Aid and Enrollment Management. (5%)
