We are seeking energetic candidates who are passionate about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
(DEI) issues in academia and ready to make an impact in the Chemical Engineering (ChE)
Department. Reporting to the Director of Strategic Initiatives and Corporate Relations, the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Program Coordinator will develop, implement and evaluate resources, programs, and events to support DEI throughout Chemical Engineering.
What You’ll Do
- Serve as the facilitator and DEI point-of-contact for the ChE department, working collaboratively with all Chemical Engineering (ChE) community stakeholders and other institutional partners.
- Contribute to and drive continuous improvement of the department’s DEI Plan, including implementation, measurement, tracking, and reporting
- Advise, create, and develop DEI initiatives and play a key role in implementing and evaluating the effectiveness of DEI strategies in ChE
- Assist faculty in the development of new DEI initiatives and proposals through brainstorming, sharing of best practices, and knowledge of resources and collaborators
- Facilitate best practices in promoting an affirming and inclusive culture in which all have an opportunity to succeed and create an environment in which everyone can be their best selves
- Coordinate educational opportunities within the department in areas related to diversity and inclusion, such as cultural competency, bias, racism, sexism, gender equality, and LGBTQIA+
- Develop pipelines and provide support for the recruitment of diverse student, faculty, and staff cohorts
- Create and maintain DEI-related content for the department website

Skills You Have
- Bachelor’s degree and some formal training in DEI or related domains
- 3+ years of progressive experience managing complex initiatives or programs
- Working knowledge of DEI content and the ability to apply this knowledge to an academic setting with a diverse population.
- Passion for and track record of working with diverse teams and supporting inclusive cultures
- Interest in translating strategic goals into action items and implementing them
- Experience facilitating workshops and presenting to different groups of individuals, gaining their support and commitment
- Program management experience and establishing success metrics.
- Experience creating surveys and polls, analyzing results, and presenting results to varied audiences
- Experience prioritizing new issues while maintaining long-term priorities.
