Job Description

Position Overview

The Diversity Programs Coordinator (Efroymson Diversity Center – Butler University) is a
collaborative leader with an emphasis on student success outcomes. The Diversity Programs Coordinator will develop and implement
evidence-based strategies to recruit and retain students from marginalized and underrepresented backgrounds and identities. This
student-focused leader will connect with campus partners including, but not limited to Student Affairs, Academic Affairs, Enrollment
Management, and Division of Diversity Equity & Inclusion to ensure students have equitable access to a strong network of support to enhance
their belonging and success.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee key scholar programs for diverse communities
    including but not limited to the Morton-Finney Diversity Scholars Program (MFDSP), Indiana Latino Institute Scholars, CLD Scholars, and
    Butler Tuition Guarantee Scholars
  • Assist in recruiting/selecting prospective students, developing and implementing program
    curriculum, providing academic and personal support, and advising student leaders/mentors among the above-mentioned groups
  • Contribute to the implementation of other DEI and Efroymson Diversity Center programs and events
  • Contribute to the University’s
    strategic goal of creating an intentionally diverse, inclusive, and equitable learning and working environment
  • Provide leadership
    and oversight for the diverse scholar programs and ensuring a plan for student scholars to grow through identity development, social justice
    initiatives, community building, DEI advancement, and volunteerism  
  • Serve as administration of each of the diverse scholar
    programs including recruitment and retention of scholars, development and implementation of programming, maintenance and enforcement of
    program policies, monitoring and tracking scholars’ academic and programmatic progression including retention and graduation rates
  • Manage, implement and report on the memorandum of understanding with the affiliating community partners to provide resources and
    programming for this student population
  • Implement evidence-based strategies to support the retention and graduation of students
    from marginalized and underrepresented backgrounds and identities Advocate for the needs and desires of this population of students to
    ensure equitable access to opportunities to belong and thrive
  • Collaborate with colleagues within Student Affairs, Academic Affairs,
    Enrollment Management, and Division of Diversity Equity & Inclusion to ensure students have access to a strong network of support Serve on
    committees and work groups to strategize around best practices to yield equitable outcomes for students
  • Connect with the Office of
    Strategic Engagement to establish and maintain community partner relationships
  • Advance BU|BeWell by developing co-curricular
    experiences for students that promote greater cultural awareness and understanding, social justice, and culturally-relevant leadership
    development
  • Support Efroymson Diversity Center initiatives and pillar programs that focus on the orientation, connection, support,
    retention, and empowerment of students, including Dawg Days, Blue Scholars, and education/training

Required
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a relevant discipline or area of work
  • Experience in program design, coordination, implementation, and evaluation
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and
    inclusion
  • Experience working directly with students from marginalized/ underrepresented backgrounds and identities
  • Ability
    to establish and maintain strong, collaborative working relationships/partnerships utilizing interpersonal and problem-solving skills
  • Experience communicating effectively with students, faculty, staff, and prospective students/families
  • Demonstrated
    understanding of college student development
  • Experience implementing strategies to advance diversity, equity and inclusion for
    students at Predominately White Institutions (PWIs)
  • Experience with and a desire to have a high level of engagement with
    students
  • Ability to give presentations to a variety of audiences
  • Creative, innovative, collaborative, glass half full,
    can-do attitude

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous scholarship programming experience
  • Master’s Degree
