Job Summary
NetApp is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Employee Connection Specialist to join our Workplace Experience Team. This role reports to our Global Lead of Flexible Work and will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing initiatives that foster connection amongst our large, globally distributed workforce. You should have a passion for building strong communities, creating exceptional employee experiences, and understand the unique challenges employees face in a flexible work environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy Development and Implementation: Work with the Global Lead of Flexible Work and other key stakeholders to develop and implement strategies for improving employees’ sense of connection and belonging in a flexible work environment.
2. Project Management and Execution: Design, plan, and execute events and initiatives that strengthen our culture and promote interaction, connection, and camaraderie for all employees, including virtual and in-person offerings.
3. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other teams within HR and beyond, such as Communications, Workplace Experience, Social Impact, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) to create, coordinate, and amplify initiatives that support an engaging, inclusive workplace culture and integrate into the broader employee experience.
4. Resource Development: Provide guidance and resources to managers and employees on best practices for maintaining strong team connections and employee engagement in a flexible work environment, including the intentional design and leverage of occasional, high-impact in-person gatherings.
5. Feedback Analysis: Gather and analyze employee feedback to evaluate the effectiveness of connection initiatives and make data-driven future improvements.
6. Engagement Monitoring: Work with the Global Lead of Flexible Work and other key stakeholders to monitor employee engagement levels, using data to identify trends, opportunities for improvement, and success stories to share with the organization.
7. Cultural Ambassador: Serve as an ambassador for NetApp’s culture, values, and approach to flexible work, fostering an equitable, inclusive work environment that supports employee well-being, productivity, and retention.
8. Subject Matter Expertise: Keep up to date on the latest trends and best practices in employee connection and engagement, especially those specific to flexible work environments, identifying opportunities to apply these insights within NetApp, while also innovating to create novel approaches internally that differentiate NetApp as a thought leader.
Qualification & Skills
1. 5-7 years of quality experience in event management, employee engagement, organizational design/development, community building, or related role(s), preferably within a large, global organization with a sizeable remote population.
2. Effective project management and organizational skills with a proactive, detail-oriented approach towards managing multiple projects, adapting to setbacks, and persistently executing tasks to completion.
3. Demonstrated success in designing and executing creative employee engagement initiatives, both virtual and in-person, that foster connection, camaraderie, inclusion, and a sense of belonging for all employees.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage, influence, and collaborate with a geographically dispersed set of stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
5. Effective problem-solving skills with a record of embracing a growth mindset to design, implement, and iterate on innovative solutions for complex problems.
6. An appreciation and understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities related to fostering connection and engagement within a flexible, distributed workforce.
7. Experience using data to measure the effectiveness of engagement initiatives, identify trends, and inform decision-making.
8. High level of adaptability and resilience, with the ability to respond quickly to changing priorities while navigating ambiguity.
9. Proficiency in relevant technology tools, such as collaboration platforms, event management software, and employee engagement survey tools. Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 suite a plus.
10. Comfortable with communicating asynchronously, holding yourself accountable, and working in a collaborative, primarily virtual setting.
