PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Scripps College honors diversity, equity,
justice, inclusion, and access as a key component of the academic, co-curricular, and residential life of our community. In keeping with
Scripps’ ongoing focus on strengthening a campus-wide culture of inclusion, the College established the IDEA Initiative in 2014, a
comprehensive plan to align resources, programs, and events to advance inclusion, diversity, equity, and access throughout the
Scripps community. As the College continues its focus on equity-mindedness, it has established a new leadership structure for this work that
includes leaders embedded in the senior administration, faculty, and student areas of the campus community. Under the guidance of the Office
of the President of the College, the selected Fellow will take part in active, and substantive projects that foster development of social
justice-oriented leadership. Through this opportunity, the Fellow will practice translating theory and research into practice.
The
emphasis of this fellowship is on applied research with a focus on communications, education, and engagement.
DESCRIPTION OF
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
This information is intended to be a

The graduate fellow will have access to College
resources, such as office space, select data, key individuals, and groups, etc. In return, the graduate fellow will provide documentation of
time and activities during the Fellowship and a written summary research report. The fellowship includes the following
components: -
Exposure to executive leadership and decision-making.

Departmental and program
shadowing. -
Responsibility and oversight for specific projects.

Professional development and professional
ethics. -
Community activities.

Facilitation of a lecture or workshop.
-
Research and
evaluation. -
Performs other duties as assigned.

Active support for the College’s Principles of Community and
Principles of Diversity in the performance of job duties.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
Individuals must possess knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be
able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other
combination of skills and abilities.
The overall structure of the fellowship opportunity is designed to allow the Fellow to observe,
learn, and do. Therefore, we are seeking an individual who has existing knowledge and experience around diversity, equity and inclusion
expertise and leadership.
Eligibility
-
Must be currently enrolled in a masters or doctoral level graduate program in
the areas of education, social work, sociology, psychology, counseling, or a comparable field. -
Demonstrated commitment and
record of research and leadership experience in the areas of racial justice, diversity, equity, access, and
inclusion. -
Willingness to work closely with the Scripps Equity and Justice Leadership team.

Excellent
research, writing, and verbal communication skills. -
Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to work independently
as well as within a team. -
Self-motivated with the ability to take initiative manage a variety of tasks and see projects
through to completion.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Must be currently enrolled in a masters or doctoral level graduate program in the areas of education, social work, sociology, psychology,

HOURS & CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS:
This is a temporary, one-year, part-time, non-benefits eligible position.
Hourly rate range: $30.15-$30.86. The hourly rate of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors,
including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training.

Ability to maintain good concentration level while dealing with

extended periods of time. Reaching and extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction. Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with
fingers rather than the whole hand(s), or arm(s), for example, using a keyboard. Communication skills using the spoken word. Ability to see
within normal parameters. Ability to hear within normal parameters. Ability to bend and stoop, for example, to file. Ability to move
about. Ability to lift and carry short distances up to 20 lbs., for example to lift or move office supplies, files, books and packages.

Regular employment at the College is for no specified period of time; conditions and status of

With the goal of providing the safest campus possible for our community, the College is requiring
faculty and staff to provide proof of their original COVID-19 vaccination series within two weeks of hire date. The original COVID-19

medical reasons or a sincerely held religious belief may be requested.
