Essential Job Functions:
1. Provides regular updates and presentation materials to the
Executive Director and the VP for Compliance for inclusion in reports for university leadership, and the Audit and Compliance Committee of
the Board of Trustees.
2. Participates in creation, monitoring, updates, and tracking of compliance education and communications,
including promoting use of the Ethics and Compliance Reporting Hotline System, and the Employee Code of Ethical Conduct Training.
3.
Assists the Executive Director and the leadership of the designated high-risk compliance areas facilitate risk mitigation through process
improvement, and training and education.
4. Participates in relevant compliance and ethics organizations, including attending
conferences, and related activities.
5. Evaluates emerging compliance trends and makes recommendations to the Executive Director for
implementing best practices to support the continuous improvement within the scope of the University Compliance Program.
6. Assists the
Executive Director with addressing inquiries, hotline concerns, and other matters within the scope of the University Compliance Program
including maintaining compliance records of the Ethics and Compliance Reporting Hotline System.
7. Assists the Executive Director with
planning, developing, and implementing compliance training programs to NSU-HCC health care providers and staff to promote knowledge of the
Health Care Compliance Billing Department policies and procedures, and federal health care program coding and documentation requirements,
including but not limited to new employee orientation, annual specific NSU-HCC compliance training, and in-service training as needed.

8. Assists the Executive Director with an annual NSU-HCC educational workplan and updates to the Executive Director and the VP for
Compliance on educational initiatives.
9. Assists the Executive Director with supervising and coordinating training resources and
providing on-going end-user and new employee training for the NSU-HCC. This will include assessment of end-user training needs and
resources.
10. Assists the VP for Compliance with the day-to-day management of the University Compliance Program.
11. Coordinates
with the Executive Director and VP for Compliance and legal counsel, as applicable, regarding the proper reporting of identified
violations.
12. Keeps informed regarding pending industry changes, trends, and best practices, and assesses the potential impact of these
changes on organizational processes.
13. Completes special projects as assigned.
14. Performs other duties as assigned or
required.

Job Requirements:

Required Certifications/Licensures:
Certified Professional
Coder (CPC/CPC-H)

  • OR–

Coding Specialist (CCS)

  • OR–

Certified Coding Specialist – Physician Based
(CCS-P)

Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

Major (if
required):

Required Experience:
1. Five (5) or more years of compliance coding and documentation
education and presentation.
2. Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and
PowerPoint.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Certification in Health Care Compliance (CHC).
2. Compliance, coding
and documentation and compliance educator experience at an academic medical center/university.
3. Proficient with on-line learning
platforms (e.g., Canvas)
4. Proficient in converting PowerPoint Presentations to SCROM courses.
5. Certified Dental
Coder.
