Under the direction of the CRS Finance Research Administrative Manager, the Senior Fiscal Analyst performs central post-award office financial functions and services related to the administration of industry sponsored projects awarded to Investigators and staff at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center (Fred Hutch). As a part of the CRS central finance team, the Senior Financial Analyst position works closely with central administrative departments including Finance, Accounting, and the Office of Sponsored Projects. The Fiscal Analyst acts as a post-award resource to study program managers across the Center’s scientific divisions. Responsibilities SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY : The incumbent is expected to use initiative and sound judgment in carrying out responsibilities within the framework of departmental policies and procedures. JOB DUTIES: Complete post-award financial activities for industry sponsored clinical and non-clinical research projects. These activities include, but are not limited to, processing award activations, cost transfers, journal entries, labor and non-labor cost redistributions, budget reallocations and budget booking, budget extensions, completion of required financial reports and completion of all internal audit dictated financial close-outs processes. Analyze fully executed agreements and negotiated budgets, interpret obligations to the Sponsor, and determine appropriate course of action and present findings. Gather data, analyze information, develop conclusions, communicate recommendations clearly and work effectively with others on a team; effectively translate complex data and analyses to all levels within the organization.
Independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes and effectively accomplish assigned duties/tasks by coordinating work of teammates and other end users. Perform statistical analysis, analyze trends, and develop complex reports, tables, graphs, and other supporting documentation. Support business improvement opportunities, develop high-level solution, receive buy-in from affected departments and lead solution development and implementation project Perform quality control checks on new or revised work-flow processes and conduct peer review of analysis by other team members for accuracy and clarity of presentation. Develop a thorough understanding of PeopleSoft Query and HARP reporting tools and the ability to create new reports for the CRS finance team and other end-users. Perform other financial analysis and projects as assigned. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of three years relevant experience including financial planning and analysis and/or budgeting, preferably in a research or not-for-profit environment. Ability to develop and perform complex calculations in Microsoft Excel. Proficiency in Microsoft Word. Ability to learn and operate in new financial management software systems like PeopleSoft/Oracle and HARP. Prior experience in PeopleSoft/Oracle a plus.
Strong analytical skills with impeccable attention to detail. Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including an ability to understand complex problems, to collaborate and explore alternative solutions, practice diplomacy and tact while firmly communicating Fred Hutch policies and procedures. Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology. Ability to work independently on multiple projects and communicate status of projects to key decision makers on a proactive basis. Exposure to grant accounting or project cost accounting a plus. The annual base salary range for this position is from $67,445 to $101,167 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
