County of Santa Clara Health System (CSCHS), a large public teaching healthcare system, affiliated with Stanford University School of Medicine, in San Jose CA, is seeking a full-time BC/BE neonatologist to join our dynamic practice in our Department of Pediatrics.

County of Santa Clara Health System (CSCHS) is the second-largest County-owned health and hospital system in California and is committed to improving the health of the 1.9 million people of Santa Clara County. Santa Clara Valley Healthcare (SCVH), an agency of CSCHS, is comprised of three hospitals:  Santa Clara Valley Medical Center (SCVMC – a 731-bed central hospital), O’Connor Hospital (OCH – 358 licensed beds), and Saint Louise Regional Hospital (SLRH – 93 licensed beds).  In addition CSCHS includes a large primary care network comprised of eleven health centers throughout the County, several urgent care clinics, a broad-range of specialty services in our Valley Specialty Center, comprehensive dental services, a large behavioral health department, public health, EMS, and Valley Health Plan.  
 
SCVMC itself hosts four residency and one fellowship training programs and partners with Stanford University Medical Center for the training of residents and fellows in many Stanford-based specialties.  SCVMC also features a Level 1 Trauma Center, Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, ABA verified Burn Center, Primary Stroke Center, and a nationally recognized CARF-accredited Rehabilitation Center.  Owing to its geographic location and specialty offerings, SCVMC not only serves the County, but also the larger region.  
 
Providers in our health system also have the opportunity to use our integrated electronic health record (Epic), which brings together system-wide patient information.   The Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS) recognized SCVMC for achieving its highest level of success (Stage 7), based on our continuous innovation and optimization of our inpatient and outpatient EHR.

About the Department and Division of Neonatology
Our Department of Pediatrics has a busy 36-bed Pediatric Ward, 12-bed PICU, 40-bed level IV NICU, 170,000 outpatient visits per year, and is a key training site for Stanford medical students and pediatrics residents.
 
Our Division of Neonatology provides NICU inpatient services for all infants admitted to a level 4 NICU at SCVMC and level 3 NICU at O’Connor Hospital (OCH).  We also provide transport services to other community hospitals including our sister hospital, St. Louise regional hospital (SLRH). We have neonatal nurse practitioners (NNPs) who are the front-line providers and pediatric hospitalists in-house during afterhours.  The neonatologists are the front-line providers at O’Connor hospital NICU. The Neonatologists are on call from home and will respond to all high-risk deliveries at VMC, OCH, SLRH, emergencies / escalation of care in NICU at VMC and OCH.  Our VMC NICU is a key training site for the Stanford pediatric interns and medical students.  Our unit culture is focused on safety and quality improvement.  We actively participate in research and quality improvement projects and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.  Physicians who join our division are pleased to find a very collegial work environment, with robust specialty and ancillary support and an integrated electronic health record (Epic).
 
About the Position
The successful candidate will be board certified or eligible for boards within 1 year of hire and will be fellowship trained in Neonatal Perinatal medicine. This is an attending neonatology position to join the current team of 6 neonatologists.
