Job Description

The Honors Academic Advisor’s duties include but are not limited to the
following:

  • Advises and counsels Honors students regarding Honors courses, in the General Education and students declared
    major; advises and assists students in the selection of Honors courses during registration and pre-registration.
  • Counsels Honors students on Honors Probation which means their GPA has dropped below the 3.25 minimum required to remain active in the
    Honors College.
  • Coordinates the Honors Probation program and monitors students’ progress.
  • Collects assessment data on students? probation improvement and the effectiveness of the Plan of Action (POA);
  • Assists with completing reports that are required by the U.S. Department of Education and host institution.
  • Compiles and analyzes transcripts of graduating Seniors and Honors Senior Standing Forms to determine their
    eligibility for graduating with the “University Honors” Distinction
  • Participates in Destination TSU, advisement,
    pre-registration, and regular registration events.
  • Assists the University Honors College Dean with general program
    operations as assigned.
  • May teach one or more classes in Honors Orientation: Service to Leadership.
  • Evaluates students? transcripts and degree works requirements; assists in the maintenance of student files inEAB.
  • Provides advisement for at-risk students; utilizes hardware and software for student advisement and counseling.
  • Knowledge of National Collegiate Honors Council (NCHC) criteria of an effective Honors College.
  • Participates in area and unit meetings and serves on area and unit committees.
  • Coordinate the national scholarship application process for Fulbright, Goldwater, Gillman scholarships.
  • Willingness to learn EAB, Banner 9, Excel, Microsoft, eLearn, SciQuest, and other platforms.
  • Assists with planning
    college wide activities to engage students.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the University Honors College
    Dean.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s Degree preferably in Psychology, Counseling, or related
field and two (2) years of experience in Adcademic Advisement.
