Job Summary:

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Teacher Education Center seeks an experienced education professional to work with leaders, instructors, other stakeholders, and students in the School of Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. The candidate will also work to develop relationships and partnerships in Indigenous communities in Wisconsin. In collaboration with School of Education faculty and staff in the Teacher Education Center candidate will be responsible for coordinating the development and implementation of a multi-year strategy for positioning the Teacher Education Center and School of Education as leaders in enhancing teaching, learning, and curriculum that focuses on Native American and Indigenous histories, cultures, treaties, and tribal sovereignty, particularly as related to Wisconsin’s Act 31 state statute.

Responsibilities:

Collaborates with faculty, staff, and executive leadership of an academic program, department, division, or institution to develop instructional programs and curricula. Applies learning theory and instructional design models in the consultation, selection, and application of educational methodologies and technologies to promote active learning, refine critical thinking, and increase student success.

  • 25% Advises and supports groups working on program-level curricular design and development by facilitating the work, and by contributing expertise in adult learning theory, instructional design, and learning technology. May also contribute subject matter expertise
  • 5% Designs, develops, organizes, maintains, and consults on instructional materials, activities, curricula, and assessment resources in accordance with current pedagogical practices, cognitive/learning science, and design tools and methods
  • 5% Researches, designs, and/or acquires learning resources, technologies, materials, and/or processes to support learning
  • 5% Provides training and technical support directly to learners in settings such as classrooms, labs, clinics, and distance learning mediums
  • 5% Collects, organizes, interprets, and disseminates data to identify instructional program needs and enhance effectiveness
  • 5% Designs, develops, or recommends multimedia learning materials. Facilitates communications with multimedia service providers to ensure instructional needs are met
  • 35% Designs, develops, and delivers faculty development and engagement programs and activities
  • 5% Work closely with university and school partners to support pre-service educators in the integration of American Indian Studies in their teaching and learning
  • 10% Develop and sustain mutually-beneficial relationships and partnerships with tribal communities in order to inform the strategy, capacity building, curriculum and program development

Qualifications:

Required:
Expertise in general American Indian history and context.
Lived experience with Native American and/or Indigenous learners, educators, communities, histories, and/or knowledge systems related to teaching and learning in formal or informal settings.
Demonstrated skill in providing professional development and/or teaching adult learners.

Preferred:
Experience in building and supporting collaborative partnerships.
Experience working with PK-12 teachers and/or in PK-12 settings.
Experience in development of teaching materials.
Wisconsin-specific lived experience with Native American and/or Indigenous learners, educators, communities, histories, and/or knowledge systems related to teaching and learning in formal or informal settings.

Full Time: 100%

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.

Minimum $60,350 ANNUAL (12 months)
