POSITION SUMMARY
The HPM physician will work in many facets of the palliative care domain. The HPM physician will serve part of their time as the physician member of a hospice interdisciplinary team(s)(IDT) and serve as attending for patients that reside in Arkansas Hospice’s Ottenheimer Inpatient Unit (IPU), located within St Vincent’s Infirmary. In this role as attending in the IPU, physician will make daily rounds, treat patients with complicated symptoms, and work collaboratively with IDT. The other part of this role is be the physician leader at CHI St. Vincent’s Palliative Care Team. As the palliative care consultant, the physician will provide direct medical care that will include pain/symptom management, leading family meetings, advance care planning, HPM education to hospital staff and community, and serving as a collaborating physician for nurse practitioners and other members of the IDT. Additionally, the HPM physician will get to plan and implement new and innovative programs that serve the seriously ill.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of medicine or osteopathy.
Licensure: Licensed Doctor of Medicine or osteopathy in the State of Arkansas; Board Certified/Eligible by the American Board of Hospice and Palliative Medicine or HPM fellowship training preferred.
Additional Requirements: Credentialed and in good standing with Arkansas Hospice; admit privileges at one or more local hospitals preferred. Valid driver’s license, car insurance, and personal vehicle required. Professional liability insurance required.
