Job Summary
Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring an Instructional Services Coordinator Sr. This position will serve as the subject matter expert for student-related computer issues/questions for Computer Commons.This position is responsible for supervising full and part time staff in a computer lab setting.
Essential Functions
70% – Provides lead direction for the Computer Commons in a face-to-face and online environment; assists in the ongoing learning for staff and students, utilizes appropriate software and technology in order to execute tutoring responsibilities (MS office programs, Canvas, TutorTrac, Cranium Cafe and/or equivalent). Collaborates with Student Affairs and with Information Technology to serve students, such as with Duo Administration, etc.
15% – Plans, organizes and assigns the work of full and part-time staff; mentors and coaches staff on tutoring best practices; collaborates with faculty to ensure adequate reinforcement of classroom instruction across the curriculum; supervises assigned non-exempt regular staff and participates in the hiring process for the department.
15% – Contributes to the development and implementation of tutoring initiatives and other learning support activities; assists in the maintenance of department records, collecting, analyzing and presenting statistical data, tracking platforms, small and large group presentations about the department services; maintains close relationships with academic divisions and service departments and cooperates with faculty; performs other duties as assigned commensurate to grade level of position.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, organizational development or directly related field and two (2) years of related full-time equivalent experience such as providing advanced program coordination and consultation that includes one or more of the following: planning, development, and/or implementing program projects and activities in area of assignment.
OR
Associates Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education, organizational development or directly related field and four (4) years of related full-time equivalent experience such as providing advanced program coordination and consultation that includes one or more of the following: planning, development, and/or implementing program projects and activities in area of assignment. A Master’s Degree may be required for some assignments
Desired Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
2. Two (2) years’ experience overseeing tutoring of all levels of computer courses for a diverse population of students in a high school, college or university Learning Center using active learning teaching styles
3. Two (2) or more years of experience with CIS (Computer Information Systems), CNT (Computer Networking Technology), and CSC (Computer Science Courses) courses with specific experience using this technology to impact student learning.
4. Two (2) or more years’ experience working in a computer lab in an institution of higher education or similar setting and collecting, interpreting and presenting statistical data.
5. Experience using administrative and instructional support learning assistance technologies (e.g., TutorTrac, Canvas, Blackboard, LMS, etc.), MS Office including video tutorials and presentations as it applies to this position.
6. Two (2) or more years’ experience being a team lead or directing the work of staff.
Special Working Conditions
May include evenings and weekends. May require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, bending, stooping, and prolonged viewing of CRT (computer monitor) screen. The incumbent will be required to work in an area of light noise levels daily.
