Portland, Maine, Marketing Manager About the Opportunity The Roux Institute at Northeastern University marketing department is looking for a Marketing Manager to join a dynamic team based in Portland, Maine. Northeastern’s Roux Institute launched in January 2020 with a focus on graduate learning, research collaboration, entrepreneurship, and partnership to drive economic development in the region. Across the institute, we seek ways to engage learners in valuable experiential education opportunities. The Marketing Manager will hold primary responsibility for planning, directing and successfully managing a broad portfolio of paid media campaigns and conversion tactics to support the attainment of annual enrollment and other priority institutional goals. This position is a fit for someone who has a deep understanding of key integrated marketing concepts and objectives pertinent to enrollment marketing, including channel planning, budget management, lead-generation, and funnel analyses. The ideal Marketing Manager candidate would have experience in full-funnel marketing campaign and channel planning, inclusive of: direct-response digital marketing tools and tactics, offline media buying and deployment, prospect nurture and conversion strategies, and annual budget management. Marketing plans incorporate an integrated mix of appropriate tactics and media, such as online/web advertising, search engine marketing, direct mail, radio, social, web content, recruitment materials, etc. The candidate should also possess a high degree of understanding for processes involved in constructing and publishing new digital ad campaigns. They should bring an aptitude for complex digital marketing and the requisite level of attention to detail, willingness to adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-moving start-up environment, and a deep curiosity about marketing tactics both within and beyond the world of higher education. Responsibilities include: Developing and driving toward annual marketing and enrollment goals, facilitating new and evolving campaigns to support stated goals for graduate enrollment at the Roux Institute Identifying and acting upon new opportunities for growing the prospective student pipeline for the Roux Institute, appropriately segmenting and speaking to prospect audiences in Maine, nationally, and internationally; Serving as a primary marketing liaison with college and program-specific stakeholders across the Northeastern network, ensuring coherence in marketing strategies and messaging and gathering stakeholder buy-in and approvals as required In collaboration with enrollment stakeholders, developing unique and impactful email nurture communication strategies to drive engagement, applications, and enrollments among prospective student audiences Measuring and evaluating results of paid and owned media campaigns, delivering timely and insightful performance reports to senior leadership.

Demonstrating interest in continuous improvement through staying current with industry best practices, particularly in digital marketing. Implementing new strategies and tactics to optimize, customize and experiment Conducting market research to identify target audiences, trends, and growth opportunities. Develop personas and understand the career pathways those personas have, unlock the value proposition of our offerings against alternatives Attending regular marketing meetings to prioritize work, plan resourcing needs and voice emerging conflicts and/or opportunities Stepping into new projects with enthusiasm and a collaborative mindset, balancing creative thinking with critical thinking to develop innovative solutions Qualifications 5+ years of experience in a marketing manager, marketing strategy or marketing client management role, with experience in integrated marketing, including print and digital projects Demonstrated experience building, optimizing, and measuring multi-channel digital ad campaigns – within platforms such as Google Ads, Facebook, and LinkedIn – in addition to traditional offline channels such as audio, out-of-home, and print. Experience planning and managing complex marketing campaigns and reporting on the results, from inception to post-campaign evaluation. Willingness to execute on essential tasks and content development while also managing strategy-level workstreams Exceptional organizational skills including attention to detail, effective multi-tasking, excellent written and communication skills and superior time management Strong problem-solving ability, including metrics-driven thinking, applying quantitative and data analysis skills into making decisions Driven to push status quo through exploration and experimentation without losing sight of end goals and quality delivery Ability to prioritize multiple tasks from various constituents to meet ambitious deadlines Experience working both independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team, working directly with cross functional team (e. g. marketing strategy, design, copywriting, social media, web/dev), senior management and other internal and external stakeholders Offer excellent client relationship skills across all levels of internal and external organizations Understanding and application of brand standards into all workstreams is essential; understanding and basic command of design principles and the composition of marketing materials is a plus Experience with digital advertising and marketing tools such as Google Ads, LinkedIn Advertising, Facebook Business Manager, and Marketo is expected. Experience utilizing Salesforce (customer relationship management platform) and Slate (marketing automation tool) will be highly regarded. Proficiency with social media, SEO, WordPress, Drift, Mailchimp and scheduling applications is valued.
