Part of the Studio and Integrated Marketing team, the Media Planning Manager will lead the day-to-day partnership of the media agency and the planning of long-term media implementation. They will proactively manage and foster a strong relationship with our media, production and creative agency partners, supporting them in the development of processes and practices that improve their visibility and access to our broader business and marketing objectives.
This role will oversee and keep track of significant marketing budgets across multiple lines of business, including media, creative and production costs to ensure we remain within FY budgets and ensure these are clearly recorded and communicated to key marketing and finance stakeholders.
The Media Planning Manager will work collaboratively with marketing teams and agency partners to develop greater connection between the marketing strategy and the of the role of different media channels, creative executions and metrics.
This person is a creative, detail-oriented and data driven thought leader who proactively stays ahead of industry trends, with a track record of media campaign delivery.
Areas of Responsibility:
Media planning:
• Leads the day-to-day management of the agency to ensure regular and comprehensive communication between teams, including regular WIP’s, Market and Media Landscape Reporting
• Works with Marketing teams to ensure visibility for the agency across timing and proposed response dates of all paid media campaigns briefed
• Works alongside the agency to request upfronts from relevant partners, managing the response process to maximise benefits and cost efficiencies including annual TV deals and Sponsorship opportunities.
• Maximise media integration for cross business benefit by identifying opportunities and working towards a collective media approach
• Develop and implement a long-term planning process that identifies and secures premium, high demand media inventory across key channels and manage the inventory across multiple campaigns – both theatrical and streaming (landmark TV programming, OOH, HPTO’s, etc)
• Explore, review and manage large network volume negotiations and high value media partnerships, with a particular focus on TV sponsorships. Manage the creative strategy across the different media opportunities and integration to deliver the greatest business result
• Develop best practice approach to TV and OOH media laydowns to deliver buying and creative efficiencies and effectiveness
• Coordinates multi-campaign laydowns to ensure key media is secured in a timely fashion specifically including TV, Digital and OOH channels.
• Works with Insights Team to deliver audience insights and reporting across broader team (campaign audience work, title tracking and CX Tracker)
• Supports Owned Channels with implementation of paid social campaigns
• Maintain strong local relationships with key global and local digital platforms (eg Google, Facebook, Ped TV, Broadsheet)
• Ensure consistency across AU and NZ across all media campaigns to be in line with strategy
• Work closely with the appointed media agency to develop training and up-skilling programs to support development of internal marketing community
• Assist in agency assessments, 360 reviews
• In conjunction with Sourcing and Procurement, drive the RFP process cross company, as required and conduct production supplier evaluations and identify opportunities for efficiencies cross business
• Conduct post implementation reviews on key campaigns and identify ongoing learnings/opportunities that may apply across the business
Stakeholder management:
• Collaborates and communicates media plans and updates with broader XLOB teams
• Proactively communicates media news and insights with the team and relevant stakeholders
• Works with departments, teams or external agencies to drive best practice
• Prepare and communicate presentations and reports, leveraging data and insights from local and global insights teams, and external partners.
Ideal experience:
• A minimum of 6 years media experience
• The ideal candidate would have worked in an agency on a large client – ideally global and across multiple products.
• Experience in all media channels and media planning
• Strong social media knowledge
• Strong experience and knowledge of new technology trends and digital media platforms
• General marketing; development and facilitation of campaigns.
• Strong negotiation and management experience.
• Strong stakeholder management skills
